kingalton Posted September 25, 2012 Share Hi All My friend was hijacked this afternoon in Pretoria east - we was out close to rosemary hill on his MTB. as he approached the rosemary hill road, he saw a Vito bus without plates parked on the side of the road.. 3 guys jumped out and had guns and knives, they took his bike, glasses etc, tried to get his cellphone, but convinced the he didnt have one. the stole his Cannondale Scalpel, medium, Mavic SLR rims, Carbon lefty etc.. Will get him to post more details on the bike. Be carefull out there guys, the east isnt as safe as it used to be.. watch out for Vitos without plates.. He should have the serial number with all the papers if he got it new. I am way too skaam to hit the streets on any of my half-fancy bikes, why I don't even bother to wash my 'dale F500 commuter pavement warrior. kingalton Posted September 26, 2012 Share This seemed to be a preplanned hijacking - the exact spot was close to the old Boschkop bike park - there is a single track that goes up away from the bike park to the right, you go through a little gate, there are 2 sloots you have to get over, it then goes up to a small road, over a cattle grate to get the main road again.. they were waiting at the top of the single track.. There are so many cool tracks to ride but sadly it is also close to exit roads. Seems like we cannot ride those roads alone anymore. It’s a very sad day! MONS Posted September 26, 2012 Share Thats scary... its home ground cycling area for myself and friends - stopped going out alone long ago. Just as well . Very frustrating to have to find cycle buddies just to do a training ride(spur of the moment rides are out). Spinning alone does not equate to getting in the saddle! The bike park as in the Boschkop MTB trail? (never been there before) Edit: Since you say it's by Rosemary Hill, so it's where the little stretch next to the N4 comes out onto the RMH road?
