#Bianchi - When you say "first we'd make sure the tire is seated nicely" - what do you mean by that? I've seen that tubeless tires(which to my understanding is different to the tubeless-ready tires) has a fat rim just above the bead which people almost pull up onto the rim before inflation. This makes total sense to me cause it minimizes the chances or air escaping between the rim and tire once you inflate. I've tried this only once with my tire, but as far as I could gather the tire that i'm using does not have this "shoulder". It can either go inside the rim, or outside the rim. There is nothing "in between" if you know what I mean? Or am I missing something?

I should have mentioned this.... we used to hang the tyre in the air, on a hook, or just hold it above the ground. As long as the rim isn't lying in the tyre, else the air will just blow out.

He is running 29 X 2.35 tyres and CO2 bombs are not always reliably powerful enough to seat larger tyres like this due to the larger volume in the tyre. Also not sure of all bombs are created equal? I have had bombs that would just barely properly inflate a large 26er wheras others seem to do a better job....

Might be an obvious statement but you get 12g and 16/18g bombs. 12g for road 16/18g for mtb.

I had a similar problem once also with Schwalbe tyres, I ended up taking the stans sealant and literally pouring it around the bead of the tyre before using the pressure to inflate, this way there was basically sealant between the tyre bead and the rim all over and I got it inflated. Been fine ever since. It's messy but effective...........good luck

Yeah, got an over sized one from my brother, but basically the rush of air wasn't enough to push the tire out. Would have been nice if I considered the fact that the thing was going to get so bloody cold!! Was my first time using one of these and afterwards was stuck to my hand. Haha.

The CO2 bombs worked great for my Maxxis Ikon 2.2 tubeless ready tires on my 29er.But again I used 3 on two tires, one did not work that lekker and had to use another one

#Ibicam - My compressor can do about 120psi - but i'll go and try the garage compressor tonight and see if it makes a difference, not sure what those garages ones put out. CO2 bomb i've tried with no result. Think the main problem is the fact that the tire isn't close enough to the rim yes - but not sure how to fix that.

How big is the vessel on your compressor? I know some compressor can reach that but at a "slow" rate. You need the volume of air behind it.

A good reminder...

I used to use an inflator with a trigger for seating tubeless (like an air gun attachment) but found that while the pressure was high there wasn't enough volume.

Now I have just a hose that I attach directly to the compressor and use the valve on the compressor to open and close the air. The flow/volume is way higher and seating to swearing ratio is MUCH better.

Is it just the first time that's such a mission, or every time you need to inflate from completely flat?

Its a pain in the ass every time

Break on Thru and get 2bliss wheels

Once seated(the tyres will pop tightly into the bead) it easy afterwards. I have seen issues with AM classics and Schwalbe where we couldnt get the thing to seat no matter what trick we tried...and also only on the one wheel. We just tried another tyre(still schwalbe) and boom it worked. Why don't you try and exchange the tyre?

Just the first time. Once the bead is seated, it will inflate normally every time. Just getting the bead seated is the biggest headache.

If in the future you need to top up the Stans, just pop the bead along a small length of the rim (dont pull the whole tyre off) - this will help re-seating the bead again quickly.

It's me pleasure guvnah!

The wee gaps in trigger mechanism and such really drop the flow from a WHOOSH to a PSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

Oh yeah - another note to the OP. Don't poop yer troosers when the tyre seats with a loud POP!

Ordered them from CRC . . . So will probably have to buy a new one then.

Think it's 20 or 30l - i'll double check this tonight.

Eish...look in the end we just gave up and tried another brand new tyre...same make same model...worked first time. It's almost like some tyres and some rims don't like each other.

By the sound of it -- your'e doing everything right...

Just - it might be a tyre / rim incompatability...are those jobbies tubeless?

Something you can try as a lasresort...without stans first...

when hanging your rim - i use a lugguage starp and fit it around the tyre...pulling it tight so that it forces the bead evenly onto the tyre...from here on in you can almost inflate it with a floor pump - a compressor of any sorts will definately be able to do it!!

then once seated... let air out - open a sectiopn and pour stans in and start sloshing it around as per youtube instructions!

good luck & report bact to us here..
