Actually, its a must read if you're into doping. Cyclists want to read cycling books, not insights on how to cheat.

Lastly, since I'm sitting high on the moral high ground in this matter, I will not support a confessed drug cheat who is trying to cash in on his repentance.

That is why we will all down load the Electronic version of his book for free. When its becomes available on torrent sites.

Is their any way I can test my hemocrit levels? Just out of interest sake?

I would also try it (just to see the difference it makes)

Ja ja JGR lets do it. I will ask my gardner to come around the night before Ironman on his Vespa. He will bring Edgar with.

Send the gardener to Ufe...

Tell us what other cycling books you have read.

Any pathologist can do it. Just ask for it.

In 3 tests done during 2009/2010 my hematocrit values were 45, 56 and 52. For most of us it is actually more of an indication of hydration levels as it indicates the ratio of red blood cells to total plasma/volume in your blood.

In itself it is not really meaningful. Dopers got around it by drinking copious quantities of water and using saline drips as they get off the bike if they suspected they might be called out by doping control.

Great book, all I want to know is if Lance is stripped of his titles then who on earth will get them? Lets face it, it looks like all the top contenders during that era were doping so no one should get them then.

Bud those levels are high! 45 is ok but that 56 and 52? Did you get hold of some Eprex?

Not at all. Two things:

1. I dehydrate easily - long story

2. I was taking iron supplements as I was aenemic - nobody could figure why, and the higher numbers were tested when my iron levels became normal again. When the 45 Hematocrit was measured my iron levels were atrocious! - S-IRON @ 7, S-% Saturation @ 9.3, S-Ferritin @ 9 - All way below normal. ESR was 2 (one above minimum) I could barely walk 200m before severe exhausion set it.

Took about a year to get the iron levels sorted

Dunno what my counts are now, but everything has been feeling fine for the last two years-ish

...and yep, when my iron levels took a nose dive I googled, read and learnt a lot. Including on how the dopers went about blood doping and getting around the numbers. Never tried it myself. Would rather just take the iron supplement (when needed) that did not give severe head aches!

I would not mind racing on those levels. Mine hover around 43. I also believe in supplementing with iron at least once per year. Allot of endurence athletes are iron deficient and they dont know it
