Where did the notion of chocolate milk as a recovery drink come from? It was from a study of 9 cyclists published in the International Journal of Sport Nutrition. It compared Choc Milk with Gatorade and Endurox R4. The time to exhaustion in repeat exercise sessions was better with chocolate milk than Endurox and was as good as Gatorade. Perhaps worth a try!

Works for me as well!

If I'm really broken after a hard session this is my mix:

1 banana

1 cup milk

1 heaped table spoon cocoa

1 half cup oats

1 scoop carb/protein mix

blend & enjoy!

Check out the summary of an article comparing chocolate milk and other recovery drinks that was published in the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism in 2006: http://www.cbsnews.c...in1342839.shtml

DC Rainmaker discusses this at http://www.dcrainmak...colate-cow.html, although I think he reads far too much into the scattered comments that pass for findings in this "article".

Also, the study (surprise) was funded by the dairy industry. Funny how blind testing so often favours the research funder. (I say this as a fan of chocolate milk as a recovery drink.)

Body builders use whey (milk based) proteien as their staple diet - thus good for repairing damaged muscles, especially in first hour after finishing. Good mix of carbo's also. Use low or no fat milk. The chocolate is for the lekker. Been using it for years now.
