Zip your b@lls up in your purse nancy and get on your bike. Of course it's hard, and sometimes you suffer. Tell your coach how you felt, maybe they will have an insight into it and revise your programme, but make no mistake, getting better on the bike often means mind over matter and determination.

Diversify.

Sometimes the body needs a resyt and staleness is the first sign of overtraining.  Take the MTB to Tokia for a thrashing, or run a 10km race, orienteering, duathlon, anything.

I friend had the sme problem in his training for Comrades.  One interval session on the track and he was focused again.

Good luck

I'm going to work a good cop/bad cop routine with BtheB on you.

Times was that after a race I didn't want to see the bike til at least Thursday after the Sunday, and for me, forcing training is counterproductive. So I'd say you're normal.

My advice is the same as BtheB, tell the coach - it's not going to be a surprise to them.  And anyway you're paying them aren't you? Didn't you put it in the agreement that they have to be nice to you?

agree with the posts above. The coach relies on your feedback to keep the programme relevant to you and to keep you performing maximally when you need to. He will probably be aware of the likelihood of 'flat-spots' as no-one can maintain peak fitness all year round. Lance was the master of periodization.

Try find one person that didnt suffer on the Cobra, you are not alone. perhaps a training ride that doesnt go over every hill in the peninsula is in order. When I want a "recovery Ride" I do a nice slow ride from Hout Bay to Sea Point and Back.

Fair point.... I guess it needs to be determined whether the level of tiredness is appropriate for the race and the conditions or whether there is an underlying cause such as overtraining, lack of rest, too much intensity without sufficient base etc. a mild LRT infection is also worth ruling out.

Again, your coach should be able to advise.

Agree,One bad day does not mean you are over trained or tired. If you continue to ride and you still feel bad on the bike then maybe.

Sometimes it can be something small like your nutrition before the race or the day before.

I felt like this just before Christmas. 3 days later I got sick with the flu and was forced off the bike for 6 days. Started training again on the 28th Dec and got the mojo back el pronto.

Listen to what your body is telling you and take a rest... or it might just make you take one Unhappy.
