true, just like sugar, water, alcohol too much is fatal. But then if you take the stuff yourself... maybe you deserve what you do to yourself?

Exactly. I don't do EPO alcohol or sugar st all. Still on the water.

So who is going to prescribe HGH for me?

There is some interesting research by a guy called Dr. Mercola, with high intensity interval training and levels of HGH. By working out your super fast twitch muscle fibres, they have detected a natural increase of up to 500% in HGH levels, best achieved by doing 8 sets of 30 second sprints followed by 90 seconds rest.

Poke around his website: http://fitness.mercola.com/sites/fitness/archive/2010/11/13/phil-campbell-on-sprint-8-exercises.aspx

Interesting reading... I try do at least one of these sessions a week.

To all the geniuses fellow riders reading this and thinking about getting their first sub-3 with a little bit of help, I've heard that cyanide is excellent for boosting lung capacity. Best taken in large doses during motor-pacing sessions.

I'm still looking for that write up that some or other pro wrote about using EPO and all the dangers and stresses involved with it. I read it on a thread somewhere here earlier this year but for the life of me can'tt find that thread again. It's the one where the guy speaks about setting alarms and getting on the trainer in the middle of the night. Any help?

A possible future might include a Hub 'wall of remembrance' listing the hubbers who died - from heart attacks - in the name of going 5% faster.

There are lots of articles and forum posts about that, so no sure which one you remember, but here's one of them:

''During the day we live to ride, and at night we ride to stay alive,'' was a vivid quote attributed to one rider.

So to the average joe Saffa who thinks he's going to buy some EPO online and get stronger: since you don't have any medical expertise and you want to do it yourself, how are you going to explain to your wife why you need to get onto the IDT in the middle of the night now, and why you have to hook yourself up to equipment to monitor your heart? Not to mention how you're going to hide the ampules, needles & syringes. How long do you think you'll last before the heart attack comes?

EPO is a bad example!

I turn 40 this week and would love to take Growth Hormone ( The drug called the fountain of youth) for longevity - my belief is it's like the new salusa 45 - just work a hell of a lot better from lubricating your joint to getting better eye sight and hearing. But I also do sport for health reason / longevity and am subjected to been tested - so I don't! Is this also right? Surely if something is going to keep you healthy and maybe even keep you living for longer it should not be banned - or made legal to a certain limit or legal after a certain age?

You are right. If you are not into competitive sports. This guy, http://www.rajeun.net/hb.html , has been doing it for many years to stay young. Growth hormone, EPO, testosterone, insulin, etc.

Good Point and Well put.

I am 37 and have two kids (3 and 1) and wish i had more energy at the end of the week to spend with them. "Fountain of Youth" ?!?!?!

Cut your sugar intake to zero. Lower your fasting blood glucose levels to between 70 - 85 . Read this, http://www.rajeun.net/glucose.html

or follow a ketogenic diet like me and Tim Noakes

Eish, as a very non pro cyclist, I find the idea of us hackers using anything banned, illegal or more importantly dangerous just bizarre. I believe from reading here over past few days, that there are plenty who indulge, but for me, no thanks bud. Maybe naive, but actually not complicated.

There's no grey here. It's on the list or it's not.

If a person decided to use HGH for "elixer of life" reasons, and then signed a declaration admitting to this and opting not to receive any prize money etc. - would that then be acceptable to the hubbers/ joe average cyclist? Think carefully now.....!

Yes, if your intake does not endanger me or others and you openly disclose taking a banned but legal substance thats perfectly fine with me. If it causes you to fart excessively and stink up my ride we may have a problem.
