That's my thinking as well, except the biggest tyre it seems to be able to fit is a 700x35 so on the skinny side of a 29er.

CRC have some 42mm Conti CX tyres available (Conti locally may have a few kicking about too). I have some on my bike. 29x1.65 aint too bad ;-) Post pics as soon as you have them - I'm super curious to see it!
pietas Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 I have an avo green Schinn CX. My commuting bike. Threw the groupset away and put some flatbars on. Don't like racing bars in traffic. Biggest thing with riding on the trails is the gearing. The road crankset don't run small blades. Although a mtb crank will fit. That makes me think....

I think that a road compact crank 34 tooth will work for you on a 5 arm crank - run that with an 18 rear will be a good start point.
