This vit B thread is very similar to the one a couple of weeks ago. A lot of responses claimed that it was the way to go.

My two training partners have been doing these shots, I haven't. It has made no difference to their performance, compared to mine.

Neither of them are faster, stronger or able to train longer than they did before.

IMO it's all in the mind. Eat, rest & train properly, and you don't need them.

In my experience it does not make much (if any) difference to athletic performance if you are normal and healthy. BUT it does help you feel more "awake" or "less lethargic" due to the cumalitive effect of "excessive" training.

Why I dont know but thats what i felt when i used it many moons ago...

B complex vitamins are amongest other things supposed to help process food into energy...

Sounds like this is what I need. I am in week 4 of a 20 week programme for IM2013. So long hours at work and a hectic training regime and guess what ? last week Wed I get sick and end up in bed for 3 days. A whole week down the tubes. You simply cannot make up lost training. Maybe a day or two but not an entire week. What I need is something to boost the immune system and get me going thumbup1.gif

i had one a week before the Argus. It gave me the flu.

OMG.... Same thing happened to me. eek.gif

Doubt that it will give you the flu. Most probably you were beginning to get sick (feeling down, lethargic, 'not well', overtrained, whatever...) Decided to get the Vit B jab so you can keep up the training, kept on pushing with the training, and then fell sick despite the vit B jab.

last 'big' thing you before falling sick? Vit B jab, so it MUST be that that caused the flu!

Rather rest more, and listen yo your body!

Another question: Was it full on flu, or just flu symptoms? Read this: www.livestrong.com/article/277935-what-are-the-side-effects-of-vitamin-b12-shots

How is vitamin B doping?

"The UCI Management Committee today approved the amendment of the UCI Regulations in order to prohibit and sanction the use of injections of medicines (or other substances) without a clear medical indication. This initiative, called the No Needle Policy, gives concrete expression to the UCI's desire to protect the riders' health, maintain equality of opportunity and fight against doping.

The UCI Regulations now prohibit injections of medicines or other substances, without a medical indication, that have the objective of artificially improving performance or recovery (vitamins, sugars, enzymes, amino acids, antioxidants, etc.). This measure is above all designed to protect the riders' health and contribute to eradicating doping by restricting a practice that is all too often abused. By prohibiting injections and establishing associated sanctions, the UCI is seeking, in particular, to..."

Are us fun riders (non UCI licensed, like most here on the hub) then still allowed to eat fortified foods (like Marmite)?

Yes, but you cant inject it.

True, but what will the difference be between taking a Vit B injection and taking it orally (other than greater potential for an OD)?

And how is it relevant to hubland?
