Not sure why but my heart rate shot up to max in first 10km. Garmin was going nuts. Tried to get it down but gave up at the top of breedts. Ignored garmin and cruised home in 5:30.

Tough day out considering I have zero tech skills but still enjoyed it.

Lekker meeting all the hubbers afterwards and that burger at bundu was awesome

See you guys at Rooiberg/Baviaans. I'll be hanging onto the back of Pieterg & MikeBike :whistling:

Finished the 75km with my buddy, our first mtb race (go big or go home...) wont pretend it was easy though, finished in 6.5hrs with cramps along the way and bikes breaking beneath us!

Next time I'll come way more prepared and also keen to bring a dual sus 29er, hard tail 26er was like riding a bull! My hands were blistered and cramping, I still cant believe these guys with the SS's crazy!

Well I Finished, After deciding to go to the race on tuesday!

05:29:38 officialy!

Start was hectic. single file for 4-5km. Then you get going and then into single track and rocks, GEEZ, my teeth were clattering. My hands were more sore than anything else, on the brakes alot.

SAND SAND SAND CLIMBS CLIMBS CLIMBS. This race is an uphill from the start! I rode my own race, didnt bother when people passed me, just rode at my own pace. The monster climb is bad, but not the worst, Alot of the other climbs felt worse, as you got caught uo behind people and couldnt keep momentum, forcing you to walk.

After the monster on that cool downhill where I clocked over 60, I cramped at the bottom due to freewheeling all the way down, not a good idea!!!

All in All I had a good day, was hoping for under 5hrs. Next year get to the front of the start and avoid the bottle neck, and make up 10-20 min there.

Came up from Ballito for the race, entered the 45, at 20 Kay's ot the top of the climb, I stripped my rear hub, no problem, I free wheeled down the other side and cut my tyre properly, thought stuff it, I'm going to continue going down with a flat rear wheel, proceeded to totally wreck my rim, and was drifting through the corners on a total stuffed Kenda Karma and a rim that looked like a template for Simba crinkle cut chips, was fun, hiked 5 Kay's until I got a lift back to ATKV, and met some lads and had a few. Great race, relaxed vibe and a proper mountain bike course, with great organisation, the lads and hubbers I met after the ride in the beer tent looked stukkend!

I have unfinished business with the Monster, I'll be there for the 75 Kay next year, with new wheels!

Left the beer tent and was handed a Jaeger from jcza, love your work!
