This is an inferior wheel in more way than one.

1) It has aluminium nipples.

2) Not enough spokes

3) So flexible that it will routinely touch the fork or seatstays.

4) If one spoke breaks on your ride, you walk home.

This kinda feels like JB is saying I have an ugly XT baby...

While in fact my XT baby isn't ugly... it's special! rolleyes.gif

I am no expert (in fact far from it) but here's my personal own real life experience with 24 hole wheels ....

Had these for a long time (more than 6 years) and my skinny arse laaitie rode with them, he messed up the back wheel and I decided to have the set rebuilt by Justin from Just Cycles (just happens to be my SiL). Since then not a days trouble. I decided about 1 1/2 years ago to try them out (granted I weighed over 100kg's) and they were a bit flexy, noticed it because the RD sometimes touched the spokes ....

I am now below 90 so still not near to being 'light' and have put them back on the 1*9 bike I built just for Rietvlei and have not had a days problem. If there's flex I don't notice. I ride at Rietvlei with that bike 2-3 times per week every week and I love it .....

Dunno if that's relevant or helps anyone but just my mere 2c worth!

Here's food for thought ... been riding the 24h hub/rim for about a year now on my Specialized Epic 2007. I put the new Crest/Hope wheel on tonight ... and it was scratching against the frame ... on closer inspection I notice my rear horisontal stay has cracked on both sides. Any correlation ... 24h wheel vs frame crack?

Something sounds bogus - apologies Bogus One - here. Why is 24 spokes not good enough for MTB. A well-built wheel, as I understand it, should be stiff and strong enough regardless of the number of spokes and the lacing pattern.

Possibly because not all of us have mastered the art of unceremonious dismounts like you ph34r.png
