Chinese Carbon Thread

Tell Dengfu there is a new chinese mall opening on the corner of Republic and Jan Smuts in Randburg. My suggestion is they open a store there and sell direct to the public.

There is also the Oriental Plaza in Rivonia (old Rivonia shopping centre), where they can open a store.

Yea definitely not going to make big tom and if you don't do it for the love of it or to help people out you are going to come short. You simply can't throw a sticker kit on a frame and sell it for twice as much here because you gave it a cool name. Which is what "that brand" is doing as mentioned by BogusOne, people will see through it.

Oh I had some extras in my order so if I just took the frame $379 and shipping $150 according to the exchange rate used at the time my order would have come to R5500.

The trick as you mentioned is to make the most of the shipping when you can, but as a first stab, I first want to see what I get ito goods and experience before I order again. If all goes well, I will bring in more stuff next time maximizing the shipping. I will add a grouporder on thehub and everyone that wants to ride with can...sort of what we do with CRC

Apart from that carbon29er mentioned 50+ discount. Which means you need to have a big cash flow like BogusOne mentioned.

But also like BogusOne mentioned the Chinese will do anything for money, I've requested discount on only a mere 5 items, here's the response.

the price:

FM056:$385*5=$1925(sample price is $400)

FM056 price is the same as FM106's

FM036:$600*5=$3000(the sample price is $700)

could you tell me which country will ship out?

then I can give you the total price.

and the aero rim,now only 56mm have clincher is producing.

if you are interetested it,

the sample price for the rims is $385 one pair,

please let me know

thanks

Exactly, if i really had the $$$$ i wouldn't think twice about getting known brands. But not sure it would be as much fun, building and sourcing the parts is where most of the fun is.

Yahtzee, I simply cannot afford a sworks stumpy or SC highball, if I did have the money, would I have bought a Foo-Man-Choo, no I wouldn't have...I am just playing the cards I am dealt...I want a light carbon bike, I can't afford the big brands so I must do some homework on the interwebs and roll the dice ito of what I am getting...since the first time I will see it, will be when I open the package.

Yea agree, if you can offer a 2 year local guarantee with a turnaround SLA on cracked frames of 1 week to customers it might get traction. But for that you need a big bankroll to keep "dead" stock so to speak.

For sure...

The rice eaters wont budge on price in huge percentages for anything under 100 units when it comes to frames, and then not even. to them 100 units is a piss in the pot, They ship that in a minute to USA. Not many people around that can splash that kinda dosh and have it laying dead for just in case....

Also I wouldn't be surprised if we see more and more "group" orders coming soon from the hub, like we sometimes did with CRC. If confidence grows in these chinese guys, we will use it more..

Exactly which leads me to think that unless you are sincerely doing it to help a person out you won't make the money you anticipated

Yea, there is group of us in jozi that have both a singlespeed and a hardtail....between us we can order a good couple of forks, a carbon frame or two and some accessories. It is the fear of dealing with the unknown that is daunting...but once that has settled(with more and more guys giving feedback on this thread) they(deng-fu, hong-fu, carbonality, flixii) become no different to a cwc...you order online, you pay them, you get a pakkie with goodies...simple

n+1 hitting me hard. Looking between a 650b DS or Carbon Rigid SS. But my steel onOne slot dropouts seems to be the most fun in the world.

I'll wait for a forced upgrade

Dam you foiled my master plan! Seriously!

I am going to set up company and on an open forum expose who my source who is :whistling:

I am here frequently and I have a personal shopping list, and agree this could never be a viable business model.

While here collecting a few lights and 15 specific tyres all for mate - with profit in it for me

Just lending a hand to local hubbers!
