Guys, just some advice needed.

What are the pro's and con's, to your knowledge, of importing a frame direct from the manufacturer?

The frame I want is not locally available but the manufacturer will ship to me with the standard warranty but obviously shipping will be needed if anything were to go wrong.

It will be just a frameset and then use my existing parts to build up.

Any advise would be appreciated.

My bike is like this, frame from USA and no local support. It just means that when something goes wrong there is no back up. Also insurance people dont understand easily that I can just go to a local bike shop to get it replaced when something where to happen at that scale (insurance claim). Luckily I have been riding the bike now for quite some time without issues.

I have a complete bike like this too, I went to go fetch the bike in EU and the manufacturer wont even ship here due to them not wanting to get a bad name for not having local support. (They are planning to 'come to SA' next year though.)

Can you comment on the strength of the ST rims?

Strength wise they are good. Look, they are not DH wheels and there are far stronger wheels out there, but I have had them for about a year and I have not had to true them or replace a spoke. My normal riding consist of 90% single track and I like to ride blue and some black routes mostly, maybe that can give you a clue.

Awesome bike Robo, but can't say I like the colour scheme though.

Not for me anyway

For me if it was mine, I think yellow rather than purple would've looked great.

Don't think yellow will gel with the "mustard" color. Not mine, but a guy I "met" on Instagram's. Love the dayglo yellow and purple combo

Sorry did'nt really see that it was mustard, but this dayglo yellow will surely look good with the purple in dayglo yellow.

I need some advice please guys. My first more serious mtb was a GT Sensor 26er full suspension, then I got the itch and wanted something better and bigger. Bought a 29er Merida TFS 500 Ht, but I had 2 back operations after I bought the bike in two years time but I still feel that if I ride lots of gravel which are corrugated my back gets so sore and it stays like that and eventually goes into spasm. I want to go back to full suspension but what will be a good 26er to convert to 27.5 and preferably which bikes do I look for? I do races like Mini Atta, first Trans Baviaans this year and then mostly gravel mtb with some single track racing. Please any suggestions would be welcome.

Sorry for this personal question but how much do you weigh?

Do you ride drops and jumps with them?
