if it's a 27.5 Pike 160 then the A2C measurement is only 16mm lower than a Boxxer, going by what I can see on Le Google. So it won't mash that much up in his geo, and the head angle will be brought up to modern #enduro standards, more or less.

Plus he'll have more squish for when it goes REALLY wrong...

Or only 4mm higher with a 180mm Yari.

160mm may work better as the reach will increase slightly & seat tube be steeper.

Early fox 36 vanilla (160mm or so)

RS Lyrik

RS Pike

RS Totem (old, heavy but bomb proof)

RS Domain

Marz 66 (if you can find one with a red dot in the fork crown area - also *** heavy but omfs WHAT A FORK!!!)

Marz 55

MRP Stage

X Fusion (sweep, I think)

Manitou Mattoc

DVO Diamond

That should do you well... On that frame, I'd say 150/160mm and maybe 170mm at a stretch. DON'T get a Fox 32. If you find a revelation in good nick, that's the only 32mm stanchioned fork I'd recommend.

Hi Guys,

Eventually got the Reign, I'm considering a Fox 36 Van R Fork or a RS Sektor RL Solo Air, the Fox has a tapered steerer and I will need to get a converter to run in the straight headtube, it also has a 20mm thru axle and will have to get a new hub.  The Sektor is straight steerer and qr which will be an easy fit....

What would you recommend?

If I go Fox, where can I get a lower headset cup for the conversion?

Thanks,

Dale

For the Reign, I'd go 36 over Sektor every time. Bigger stanchions, stiffer and more suited to the bike.

The Van is a fantastic fork, and both the sektor and the van only have rebound adjustment so there's no difference in adjustability.

In terms of a lower cup - you can get one from Rapide afaik, otherwise any LBS that deals with Hope or Cane Creek stuff.

Which Reign is it?

Just to clarify, is the the Van RC2 or just the plain R?

If the RC2 then very very lekker ... used on my Cannondale MOTO before, and the fork was really lovely.

06 model

Older '06 model, got a complete bike, excl fork for a steal.

Is it just the reign or the X? I remember the X versions were proper freeride bikes back then. 170mm travel I think as apposed to 150mm on the rear of the regular reign. If it is the X then a sektor would be a waste. I would definitely vote on a 36. But a 150mm sektor is fine for the regular reign.

It's a plain R, the one in the classifieds

It's a standard Reign.

I had a 2006 Reign (the blue one), and ran it with a 36 Talas (100-130-160). It is a great ride at 160mm.

I still kind of miss that bike.
