I have a Stumpy FSR Comp with Fox CTD 130mm up front.

I'm super happy with it, but just been wondering from a purely curious point of view whether one is limited to that travel or would I be able to run a fork with say 140mm travel up front?

130mm? Is it the stumpy 29er?

As far as i know, 26er stumpy's are currently running 140mm and the older models (like mine) run 120mm. However a lot of guys with the older stumpy's have fitted forks up to 160mm with no probs...

Yeah it's the 29'er  so 130mm has been plenty for me. My question is purely theoretical and for future reference.

Fitted one to my PYGA. Rode with it properly in this weekends Enduro. works great. Less clatter and hardly noticed a difference in shifting.

Have you got 1x10 or 2x10?

What cage length should work best for 2 x 10 with 36-11 ?

I tried the long cage SLX on it & works good.

Didn't notice the shifting being that much harder as well.

there is even a party trick where you fit a different rear shock with the same i2i but different stroke length wich increases the rear travel to 140mm..

Yeah, I think that 1 x 11 was designed for Bike Parks with Ski lifts. I would love to run it on my bike for the simplicity, but I have spaghetti legs, so I would never cope with the climbs.

stop being a moffie :P ....I did 1x10 at Sani!

haha okay! i am not sure if 10cm more travel really makes that much of a diff anyway. I fitted a friends 140mm for interests sake and it really made bugger all diff. planning on fitting a 160 and then we shall see!

Have the SLx it makes shifting so stiff, also find that the suspension feels weird with it on, think it's not giving enough for chain growth. Really makes the bike feel weird. Also not as quiet as everyone claims. Credit where it's due though, I haven't dropped the chain since!
