Who wants a pancake flat course, I find it easier to have a few hills to change position on the bike and to add a bit of interest

I could think of about 1990 people .... :whistling:

Yoh this news got to me slowly... now I am trying to process. 1800m of climbing is not what I signed up for!!

Its not the climbing that worries me - its the marathon after the climbing.

a flat course is tough, no time to rest - with the climbs you get to rest a bit on the downhill - as long as we don't finish on a climb it should be ok - need to stretch those legs out a bit on the bike before starting the run\jog\crawl

Ah there you go. All processed feel better now - looking forward to those downhills that they've kindly added to the route!

If its the route I think it will be (according to the various speculation abounding here and other sneaky inside sources) we're looking at about 600m total climbing per lap, or 1200m for the whole bike course.

Will try refrain from further speculation until the route is actually announced tho...

I really don't think it will make such a big difference.

If you can do ironman you can do a few extra hills. The principles stay the same... ride within yourself.....

You know it is coming so prepare for it (except of course if you live in the Northern Cape then you are ******)

Thanks Garfield. That is a real boost to my confidence.
