Hope that they add a few more markers on the swim. I can see sighting a bouy 1500m away is going to be very tricky.

Also, how does the waves worked? Suppose the time on the clock will now not be the actual time....thats not nice!!!

There will also be 3 waves to start. Wave 1 pros then wave 2 then wave 3. I'm over it already. IMSA have got greedy again and ruined another good race just like the half.

How is having different waves being greedy - they have had the same number of entries for years?

Why 3....what is the difference between wave 2 and 3? Elite AG's?

I seem to remember someone saying something along the lines that if your previous years finish time was within a certain % of the overall winners time, you were regarded as a Elite AG, and had your own wave... But can't remember if this maybe the case at 70.3 or not.

Maybe that's what they doing this year?

There are 2 'extra' yellow markers currently on the long back leg. They will probably add another couple. If all else fails there is always the harbour cranes.

New bike course is on the website with profile. Its the course I rode last Saturday so its official.

We are contemplating going down 1 weekend to cycle the course for some experience - Im assuming it's fine to do without the Im road closure?

Still think it is an awesome event, route change or no route change. It is official, so no time to stress about it. Time to hit those hills and get strong!

Still going for a better time with the new route after the disaster of 2012!

Can someone maybe throw together a comparison of the old and new courses? Maybe I'm missing something but I do not see these new huge hills? What was the total climbing on the old course?

Yes agree---do I also miss something ? I think the total climb over 3 x 60km laps will be more than the total climb over the new 2 x 90 km laps ???

Do not take this as gospel but I seem to remember from some literature that it was in the region of 300m per 60km lap. So this will be about 700m total more...

Yip 12% of winner time = Elite AG

Okay now that we know there is some climbing involved----I think most TT bike's have got as 53/39 chainring and matbe a 11/23, 11/25, 12/25 at the back.

Keep the same chainring but abe change to a 11/28 at the back ???

Your thoughts please !!!

Depends on your weight and ability.

Some TT bikes have a 54/42 on them so check.

Most guys will get away with a 39X25 but i would suggest a 39X28 to save your legs for the run and for a heavy windy day.

The new bike course looks awesome, can't wait... some spectacular scenary, will add a whole lot more to the experience IMO. Just pray for a westerly (if not no wind) - guys will fly on the 50km back

As for the swim waves, well that's a reality for many IMs and I think with having only one loop they wanted to have more safety measures in place and spread the field out a little more.

If you guys are all so upset by having two swim waves for AGers why not give up your entry to one of the hundreds on the waiting list and still dying to get in?
