Caught between a rock and a hard place. Agreed a two week taper is ideal but I lost a whole week in the crucial peak phase.

Wont do a long run two weeks out but I don't see the harm in a long ride.

I am doing a big week this week and then See how it goes for the next week, but it will be lower, I think a week is enough to taper.....but I am self coached and when I was coached they started tapering around 2 weeks before, agree on the long run this weekend is 28km longest then I'm done.

The only leg I am looking at a time is the swim - which I hope to do in 1h05. Going to ride well within myself and have accepted I will be doing a fair amount of walking and am just looking to soak it all up and enjoy the day out

Have you guys received your mags yet? Got mine today, I reckon the analysis of the new course is spot on and pretty much what has been said on here.

Hi chaps, after the discussion with the surgeon, decided it will be better to operate and get on the mend ASAP, very disappointing, but for the best.

You guys must all smash it, love every minute of it.. When are hurting on that run, think of me and love the fact that you get to experience the pain and eventual glory... Good luck!!!

Glad you've got clarity about it, good luck with the recovery.

Discretion is the better part of valour, but it must have been a bitter pill all the same. Heal up and come back stronger!

Never met you, but regard you as a brother in Iron Arms. All the best with a speedy recovery. Hopefully the little one pop's in early, so that it all works out for the best.

Sorry to hear Alton - that is terrible luck. I know when I came off at Buffels all that flashed though my head as I skidded along the tar was whether my IM would be over... Fortunately I am 100% to race, but its scary how these things happen in a split second and are out of your control...What happened with the car - where and how did you get knocked off?
