Now that I am in taper mode the wife thinks that I can go out and socialise. Hell she even wanted to catch a movie tonight, yes in a theatre with more than a hundred people all of whom could be carrying some race ending pathogen.

People think I have serious OCD as I am walking around with had sanitizer and I press the ATM's buttons with my knuckles.

Fortunately I just recovered from a serious cold so I should be good to go...

Shocking! Very unreasonable of her

whats more shocking is that he is still living in the same house with his wife, I move the family into the garage 5 weeks before the race so I have no distractions during peak and taper weeks, I thought everyone does this

Sounds reasonable - after all, no time in the last five weeks for sex.

Brick sessions are important, just makse sure you track your heart-rate

100% but just watch out sometimes metal accessories ie handcuffs etc might cause a wrong or inaccurate heart rate monitor reading iv been told

Where you looking? Weather looks pretty good on windguru, yr.no and weatherSA...

Then again, this far out it's pretty much a wild guess as to what the weather will really be doing :P

Will Roctane gels be available?

I believe not, but GU should review this - even if provided at just one aid station.

IMSA say "race with whats on course", and GU say "take Roctane for ultra distance events" - so you really need to provide Roctane on course.

Exactly

Last year I found none even though they said there was available on the run - but I missed it.

Why are the gels always so difficult to come by in races and also why is the flavours so very limited as well? At Midlands they only had orange flavour available and you had to beg for a gel.

We pay a lot of money to enter this race and I want all flavours readily available at all aid stations. Or at least include a few gels in the goodie bag....

according to the GU website Roctane is included in the product that are going to be available. But I find you generally got to grab whatever is handed to you. So its going to be pot luck I guess. No Espresso Love - pity, that double caffeine is a winner for me.

Good idea Garf: for GU to include a selection of flavours in the goody bag so you can better plan your nutrition strategy, But I guess they dont want people stashing the goody bag Gu and then getting more on course. Option would be to have no Gu on course if its going in the goody bag, I wouldnt like this, I like to run light and pick up on the go.
