Yoh, cannont wait...!

Did my last race-specific sessions this weekend:

- 2000m swim, 80km bike & 4km brick run on Sat AM.

- 18km run Sunday AM & 3600m OW swim on Sunday PM.

Hit all my planned race paces and HR in all sessions :)

Training is done and now we just need to tick the legs over this week and keep sharp!

Can you feel it? It is (almost) here... :)

according to the GU website Roctane is included in the product that are going to be available. But I find you generally got to grab whatever is handed to you. So its going to be pot luck I guess. No Espresso Love - pity, that double caffeine is a winner for me.

Good idea Garf: for GU to include a selection of flavours in the goody bag so you can better plan your nutrition strategy, But I guess they dont want people stashing the goody bag Gu and then getting more on course. Option would be to have no Gu on course if its going in the goody bag, I wouldnt like this, I like to run light and pick up on the go.

Where exactly on the website? no mention that I can see here http://www.guenergy....africa&Itemid=3 where products are listed by aid station

What day is everyone arriving?

Anyone interested in meeting up for the practice swim on Fri or Sat?

Also ....... what would you like to see at the Expo and what will you be buying rewarding yourself with

Its confusing then cos no mention where products by aid station are listed. If they are going to have it we need to know where!

Exactly. And it shouldn't be hidden away. It must be readily available. After 10 hours + I don't want to struggle to put paw to gel...........

Hi guys

Seeing as it's almost race day we thought we'd check in to see if there are any questions around GU and what we're providing on the course.

Here's a link to info on what we're providing on race day to help you plan your nutrition.

Have a GUd one!

The GU Crew.

Hi there Gu Crew

Thank you for providing for us on race day.

I have a few suggestions for you to help make my race day a perfect day.

1.) Please put a table full of Roctane Gels on the beach with a dustbin. I would love to eat a gel just before swim start. (alternatively put it in transition)

2.) Please put a table full of gels etc in T1 / T2.

3.) Could you please consider moving the potatoes/bananas and sandwiches from the run stations to the bike stations. By the time you run you don't want to eat solids as there is no blood left in your stomach and its not lekker to run with a full stomach...... On the bike however we would love to eat all of the before mentioned

4.) Please have various flavours readily available at the proposed aid stations - I don't like the orange flavour. At Midmar that is all there was. I love the new salty caramel flavour.

5.) If at all possible could you hand out electrolyte tablets with the Pump water bottles on the bike? I would love to put both in my front hydration system.

6.) Please sell hampers at the EXPO. I am more than willing to pay R500 for a hamper containing all of your products. It needs to be a promotion however or else I may just as well go to Dischem.

Thank you!

exactly the reason why I'm self sufficient for 95% of my nutrition !

if I need an emergency gel here or there, can grab one at the aid station..

This is a big one for lots of athletes, especially the dustbin!

Wot do u use to carry your gels / stuff on the run?

Anyone tried one of those fuel belts belts advertised on the IM store website, are they any good?

Thinking of ordering one of each, the one with bottles for training runs and the race belt without bottels maybe for race day to carry my own stuff for the run.

Previously I had a lekker Saucony fuel belt but recycled the bottles a few years ago and now cannot ones that fit....

No ways - those marmite sarmies were the best thing ever on the run - Every 3kms I started craving one and had to get to the next aid station for another!

Yip, no reason they could have the grub on the bike and run. When you do a 17 hour with a 8 hour walk those sarmies and potatoes really hit the spot!!!

I use an Asics run belt + my orca tri top has 3 pockets in the back. (plus my number belt can also stash 4 gels)
