Or work on the bike. More bike fitness means better run off the bike (generally). Try concentrating on the bike for a couple weeks and see how you feel

let me tri that.

I would recommend fitting in a hard brick once or twice a week. East london is a tough place to have a solid run off the bike as both the bike and run course is tough..

i have to choose between extra running or extra bike sessions over the next few weeks.what would be better.i can do a solo 90 km currently at 25 km/h and run easy 16km at 6min/km.where would my time be best spent?

I would work harder on your run, running fitness seems to help on the bike but not the other way around. you need to generate some running speed, do some quality interval sessions and work on your leg speed. Also fit in some hill repeats, there is a bit of a bump on the run course that you dont want to have to walk up, twice. Remember bike for show run for dough

i am currently doing that.never write a cheque on the bike you cannot cash on the run.doing intervals and hill repeats with a tempo run and a long run every week.probably the nerves starting.

A couple of things I found interesting on Paul Wolff's live chat today:

There have been a few hints of new IM events - any bets on where they will be?

And, interesting comment on the 5150 in Germiston - glad they are serious about sorting the cycle leg out.

oh ja - and go Teresa! Hopefully all the ladies are taking note.

My bet is Durban for a 70.3, considering that trirock was a success I am sure that World Endurance Holdings will look at emulating that race. I wish Cape Town was an option but I imagine that the logistics with our municipality makes it pretty unattractive for organisers

I think CPT should get it - Durban has Midlands and TriRock.

Cape Town has no ultra events and lets face it - a more attractive destination than Durban

I would have said CPT but I reckon with them getting the ITU (with mass participation) its unlikely they will also get a 70.3. I reckon Durban or something up-country...

The away part of these events is a great part of the experience, but the $ add up... so wouldn't mind a Gauteng option... Personally hope EL carries on for many years as well.

Sold! Cape Town it is, a return of IM to Gordons Bay would be absolutely fantastic.

I don't know how popular the ITU event will be - at R900 for a short race right before IM I doubt I will do it.

GP has buffelsport, prestige, rockman ect

Cape Town only has Slanghoek, Jailbreak, Global and all are short distance races

Swim in Camps Bay/Clifton 4th - cycle to point via hout bay/noordhoek then go fishhook over glen cairn and then the run can be on the prom to the waterfront - run through the waterfront/clock towers and return beach road.

Huge fields in Camps bay to use as transition ......

Agree the timing before IM and the race fee for olympic distance is just too much for me to handle.

There is the Enduroman which is going to be close to an Ironman in terms of difficulty, but this is offroad, I agree that we need an Ironman distance in CT, hey perhaps we could get a Challenger race here

I doubt it for Durban. Remember you need TSA endorsement for a race. TSA will protect the existing races. No point in diluting the existing ones. It must add to the calendar not undermine it.

whats the best way to sort of set a target for finishing time?

Look at your pace that you set in training for the respective distances and perhaps add 10% or so
