Event Name: BASTILLE MTB CLASSIC
When: 14 July 2013
Where: Franschhoek, Western Cape
Category: MTB

The Bastille MTB Classic is a re-incarnation of the Dewdale MTB Classic (which ran from 2001 - 2007).

There is a choice of 3 distances to choose from, depending on your fitness level and/or ability:

* 45km: For the experienced and fitter rider, this course has a lot of climbing & technical challenges (including rocky ascents & descents, single-track sections and tight switchbacks)

* 32km: For fit riders with average to good technical skills, this route has less climbing & less technical challenges, but will still feel lke a good workout.

* 10km: For the beginner/not so fit rider. Fairly flat route with hardly any technical challenges; the course climbs ever so gradually to the halfway mark, then it's slightly downhill, followed by flat to the finish.

Both the 45km & 32km also start off on the 10km loop.

Please note:

* Both the 45km & 32km also start off on the 10km loop.

* First 200 Online entries will receive a Goodie bag sponsored by Pick n Pay (Franschhoek), La Vie de Luc & Franschhoek Cycles!

If it is a mud (read fun) fest like last year, I am bringing out the SS for sure! :D

I hope not, slogging through that stuff for hours is soul-destroying!

Another online entry company charging R 4. 50 admin fee for online entries. On Primciple i'll keep my money and you can keep your race. What next are they gonna come up with to squeeze that last cent from recreational cyclists

45KM @ R3,33/km

Mmmm........... Think I will skip this and rather do the Wolsley race and the new race at Van Loveren on the 10th of Aug which combined will cost me about the same as this race.

I hope it is successful for them!

It is a little bit pricey hey. The thing that might save them is that Franschoek is not as far as some of the other races. Save some money on fuel.

On my geared bike I wanna cry in the mud when I start thinking about what its gonna cost after the race to replace the drivetrain :(
