Its difficult to describe, you get this dead feeling off obstacles, compared to the Niner fork which pops. It might just be the weight difference, but there is definitely a differencd in feel

Interesting. I'll see when riding the two.

Anyone looking for one of those rigid On One 29 forks....I have one for sale. It is currently connected to and will be sold with an Inbred 29 with sliding dropouts, ss specific wheelset (Sunn rims on DMR revolver hubs), fleegle bars, Shimano hydraulics and there really isn't much more to the bike than that. PM me your email address and Ill send pics and details tomorrow from the office when I'm meant to be working. Oh ya its a medium frame.

Just somethings that I heard and thought about. Comments and feedback will be appreciated.

In theory and in practice, is this correct?

If that is correct, the whole suspension thing in mtb an motocross was a hoax like powerbalance.

The suspension provides comfort and control. Most folks ride routes where suspension is not needed for control - but jou dont see many DH rigs without suspension. Regarding comfort, suspension helps, but you dont need 100mm of travel for that.

Some comments:

Handlebars dont flex much. If the did, you would get a lot of steering lag.

Things like grips and saddle will help take some high frequency buzz out, but wont help any for lower frequency hits of even a minor amplitude - riding down stairs for example.

To have damping, you need displacement or travel. Frames and forks do not deform much (less than tyres, saddle etc. in any case) so damping from a frame or rigid fork will be much less than a suspension fork.

I don't have the experience of many here, but I rode my on one rigid and loved it.

While I became very aware of picking lines, cadence and maintaining "looseness" in my arms to avoid fatigue, I just was not in the condition, physically, to really enjoy it.

Bottom line is: I have to be fitter, stronger and leaner to really be able to truly rock the rigid, let alone singlespeed.

I will go back one day - maybe when I have some feeling back in my forearms ;)
