Capricorn Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 (edited) I don't think I can get myself to do this. I'd rather preserve the memory of the original. I worry that revisiting series like that will just ruin it for me. What seemed eerie back then might just become somber and mundane in a contemporary context. I've revisited several series and while Magnum PI, Miami Vice, McGuyver, Airwolf and The A-Team are drenched in cheese. Its the kind of series you enjoy again because of its glorious, glorius cheese. X-files? No man that's sacred. I made the same mistake watching Thundercats again. Pfft, what do these kids know about animated series. I'll show them the best there ever was. Till I watched it again. It was horrible. Ruined my fond childhood memories of that show. i share the trepidation, but the story telling is still compelling enough that the majority of what i've watched so far in season 1, the cheese factor is purely cosmetic, and easily ignored without it detracting from what made the show awesome. What is interesting now in hindsight, is how many actors came through the series, and this is only in season 1!The world has definitely moved on in terms of hyper realism, notably if you compare the cops and soldiers of then to the cops and soldiers portrayal in the current era of TV shows and movies. But you wont be able to say the story telling back then is worse than now. So my 2c is, the show's awesomeness is still preserved. That said, we can't not expect it: times have moved on in a big way. Its nature of things that what was cool way back when, is very likely pure corn now in comparison. If you accept that from the get-go, the disappointment wont be as off-putting Edited July 14, 2015 by Capricorn Captain Fastbastard Mayhem 1
Stretch Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 I'll probably finish the season, but it simply isn't as engrossing as the first. McConaughey and Harrelson had fantastic chemistry and their characters were so different, but matched up so well. There just isn't any chemistry between Farrel, Adams and Kitsch. Must say, they've really toned down the nudity in this season. It's largely because Matthew and woody are really good mates....and oh...significantly better across than anyone on this season
Stretch Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 I noticed on Sunday that idols is on again...who watches this crud?? Really!!
Stretch Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 masters of sex S03 started last week (ep02 last night) as did the highly addictive but ridiculously bad "the Strain" Wayward pines looks like its coming in for an interesting finale (and its apparently cancelled) and Continuum starts next Sunday!
scotty Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Busy watching a series about guys riding around France, its aired daily except Mondays for some reason. Final episode is this Sunday. Gen, nickc and Lurch the stalker 3
Lurch the stalker Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Wayward pines looks like its coming in for an interesting finale (and its apparently cancelled)It was always pegged as a mini-series.From what I have read, all three books are condensed into the 10 episodes. It's quite refreshing that they apparently set out with a plan and aren't going to drag it into oblivion. popcorn_skollie 1

I wish more series would do this instead of try an squeeze all they can from a show based on ratings. The writing suffers especially when they try and build on something that was never intended as part of the original plot. We've seen it happen too many times. But hey, thats show business. Just started Mr Robot. Its good, very good.

Stretch Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 so what did everyone think of the final episode of wayward pines? seemed a bit rushed and condensed...but also open to a second season if the demand is there...but highly unlikely

It is definitely cancelled from what I have read.http://www.christiantoday.com/article/wayward.pines.e10.finale.answer.towns.mysteries.no.s2.ordered/59787.htmhttp://renewcanceltv.com/is-there-wayward-pines-season-2-cancelled-or-renewed/With a ton of other sites saying the same thing.
