I think if you can stick it out a few episodes

Well I am enjoying it.. so also person taste etc.. (although enjoy is perhaps not the right word..damn it's harsh..there is nothing enjoyable about what those young lads went through)

Also I have a WWI and WWII expert next to me always giving me more insight

WW2 fascinates me immensely and the pacific war is one part of it I am not too clued up on...so maybe it is time.

While we are on the subject - have you ever watched this  video about the deaths of war..it is chilling to say the least. Well worth a watch

When the kids have to do any of the WW at school..they get home rush to dad and then what follows is hours of discussion about it.

one of my mom's late cousins served in the afrika corp. lots of stories to tell, normally starting with how he got the huge bronze/brass shell casing standing on his mantle piece. While utterly fascinating, its clear: i wish war upon no one.

Both my grandfathers served in North Africa, and my one grandmother was in a concentration camp in Russia so it's a topic that's always been close to me.

The one grandfather passed away before I was born, but the other one's stories are the reason that I served.

my grandfather was a captain of the Southern Maid and spent his time in the waters of the Mediterranean. he received two DSC's. one for rescuing survivors of a bombed supply ship for tobruk and protecting them from enemy attack. and the other for destroying a German sub.

started S03 of Fargo

as much as I love Carrie Coon...she just cant keep her Minnesota accent...and Ewan Mcgregor also keeps switching between an pseudo scottish and Minnesotan accent.

enjoying the storyline though...but the accents re bugging me

I know this is a TV thread but:

Michael Caine's Maine accent in The Cider House Rules.

Sean Connery's in anything non-Scottish. The Untouchables etc.

Both got best supporting actor Oscars for those roles even though the accents are truly awful.

I'm with you on the Ewan McGregor accent foibles.

True... Although with Fargo.. The accent is as important as the storyline
