Its a first service so i would say a minor service ?

No no no...don't ask for minor this or major that.....it means nothing and what you think is included isn't...it doesn't work the same as a car.

Plus..minus how many hours and km have you ridden

Have done about 700 km , not to sure about the hours.

True, it's always tricky differentiating between what is done with which service?

I would presume that the servicing of the forks and replacing of the cables would fall under "major" and the cleaning and re-greasing with gear tuning and tweaks would fall under "minor" and "major".

Let assume 150 hours plus....

Ok so based on that you probably need the following

1 x new chain, measure it yourself to see the wear

1 x regular fork service(new oil and seals)

1 x air cannister service for shock

1 x new cables for crisp shifting and setting of gears

Other than that, if there is something wrong, it might not need it though, look at...stiff headset(headset bearings), brakepad wear, cranks not spinning smoothly(BB), new slime in your tyres, cassette, brake bleed if brakes are soft

hahaha some mech's are really good and will call and list the items that are shot, some don't and don't replace making the customer the moer in, some do and give the customer a big bill and that makes the customer the moer in....Rather list specifics I say no room for error.

Did you have issues with TDF ? They not my regular LBS but have had work done there and no complaints. My regular is FL in Glen Marais, but you can also go to Bike Scene in Nigel Road Springs, the owner (Riaan) is ex TDF and knows his stuff .

ja exactly....actually fork is suppose to be serviced at 100 hours so is air cannister....chain will probably be right on the verge of being replaced and cabling is cheap enough to replace while its at the shop so you might as well do it....Those are musts based on 150 hours imo

The rest is adhoc...if fubar, replace, if not, do nothing
