ChUkKy Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 With the Ikon you will save weight & the EXO version is *** strong , oh & faster! This can be debated at length My opinion would have been:With the Ikon you will save weight & ANY version is ***, oh & fast!
Gideondv Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I'm keen on getting the ground control 29 x 2.3 for my front tyre, want more grip for the muddy WC single tracks... (back Ikon 2.2),
hvh Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 (edited) Stan's for the win.....never had an issue. The standard schwalbe evo tyres are hondnaai....if it doesn't say snakeskin, I won't go on my bike. Ek dink die is ook snakeskin Edited June 19, 2013 by hvh
Iron Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 This can be debated at length My opinion would have been:With the Ikon you will save weight & ANY version is ***, oh & fast! serious you dont like them ? they are the best tires i have ridden in a long time ( trust me i have ridden ALOT of brands ) . now fitted them on all my bikes . fast , grip well at flowing xco races , marathons , thorns , rocks . im so enjoying them . rouxtjie 1
rad006 Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 I currently have Geax Pitstop I think its called, Complete Cyclist use it. I still prefer OKO but you need a proper sealed system for it as its thinker so does not seal up the rim as well.
Goblin Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Im riding ardent front , ikon rear on my trail bike. Ardent is grippy but fast enough when going straight (a bit heavy though), ikon is fast and light.Ikon similar to RaRa, with a bit less grip. Don't think I would put it in front. Next set of tires will be specialised ground control and fast track mix, (Ive heard good things, and like experimenting.), but will ride these untill worn out as they work pretty well. Another good tire is Bontrager team TLR 3 (front) and the TLR 2 (rear) , going pretty cheap at solomons.Dont look like much but work surprising well and at about R600 for a set a bargain.
rouxtjie Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Ek dink die is ook snakeskinYip 2013 model snakeskin, 2012 sin het so n geel prentjie gehad....check die blok derde van links....snakeskin...goeie tyres, net duur
Gideondv Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 This can be debated at length My opinion would have been:With the Ikon you will save weight & ANY version is ***, oh & fast!Haha Well so far my Ikons EXO have been bomb proof on my 29er HT. I run them nice & soft. (1.75 bar F , 1.9 bar B) (85Kg).I had racing ralph on (not snakeskin) & they were dog ****!

Seriuuuus... if someone gave me 2 for free I dunno if Id be able to conjure up a thankyou. Getting them onto the rim was easy, getting it to seat was the start of the hate, you never saw UFO's, those were my wheels.2nd day I had them, punctureAfternoon ride coming down witkoppen road heading to the Spruit, puncture and pissed out all my stans. Some nice fellow helped me out with a FAT plug for a car tyre. Then a ride with Rouxtjie at NF, I got another puncture from a stone the size of a chilli, didnt have a tube so walked 5km. Ikons and I never liked one another from the beginning, the only time I liked them was on hardpack, I was scared of rocks and even little sticks for the punctures. BUT in saying all this, they are super light and very fast, Ill give them that credit. This is my experience with them

I have Fast Tracks at the moment. I would say don't go for the S-Works version because they are very squirmish at low pressures due to the thin sidewall but otherwise very nice.

rouxtjie Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 ok so lets be clear . i someone gives you some you say thank you with a smile and send them my way sneaky russian, thought I will give them another go after the back one dropped me at j2c.... PS don't tell sean, he will never ride with me again if he knew I bought some from cwc couple of weeks ago
jcza Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I don't think it matters what tyres you have - snakeskin, protection, bulletproof etc etc. If you ride enough you will cut the sidewall or get a puncture. Does not mean the tyres are rubbish. Conti, Schwalbe, Maxxis etc are all quality brands.
ChUkKy Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 ok so lets be clear . i someone gives you some you say thank you with a smile and send them my way Consider it done
