I have done a few but for the most chilled vibe and superb riding 3 Towers is tops closely followed by Berg and Bush Descent. Day 1 of berg and Bush is, in my humble opinion, the best single day of riding I have done in my life.

too many races, too little time.....

Apologies for the High-Jack. Got the Green light from the boss to take a client on stage race. I'm riding W2W in Nov so was thinking of Ride the Rhino or Dr Evil Classic, both at the end of Sept. anyone able to advise which one would be the best value?

Dr Evil classic.

Gentle uphill on days 1 and 2 and then a downhill dash from Uniondale to Knysna (K2C)

as the last stage.

Good ride to get you back into the swing of things after a quiet winter.

I have a question one step further.

How should one train for a stage race, e.g. How much time vs how many km's?

I want to start riding stage races next year, but my family time only allows 3 mornings a week (approx 29 km route each day) and then a 90km ride on a Sat morning.

I assume that wont cut it?

More than enough for something like Sani etc. not enough for Epic, Pioneer, J2c

All that counts (not for winning) is time and quality (intensity). 6 hours hard/ week with some rides at 3 to 4 hours will finish any stage race. Once in your life you must try to do the Tuli - its not a race, but it is Africa. (Not talking Epic/Pioneer here). Also try Lighthouse to Lighthouse for the family. Edited by TALUS

Ok, help a guy out.

What are your favourite MTB stage races?

I need to get some stage races under my belt.

So far I am keen for 3 towers and 2014 J2C.

Yoda Watson told me to get as many done as I can to get prepared for J2C.

So....

Some ones to get cracking:

Route66,

Honda Challenge,

Sabie experience

Wines 2 whales,

Sani2c (woot woot)

That would be fine, I did +-10hrs a week for 6 weeks before Sani and really enjoyed it. I did have a fair amount of base training before it.

Did the Sani, 2x5h rides Saturday and Sunday (80-100km). spin in the gym for 7 hours a week.

only been on the bike for a year now, am loving it, got the berg and bush and wine to whales to look forward to. Wanted to do the tour of legends but couldn't find a partner.
