Good work man, I had fun in spite of the Tsunami...

That Parking access was a joke... I didnt bring cash and they wouldn't take my card ... I was gonna leave my car there and ride down..lol

Yeah luckily my card went through... I mean who the f*** always carries cash nowadays anyway? Maybe that was a better idea though, we should have for sure!

Was sweet ride though, definitely a new experience and just glad I made it home!

Suffered, got wet, got dropped finished strong & loved it. Oh & I didn't pay for parking but exited thru a back entrance. Security directed me there.

Must say, that rain and wind was a real bummer! But race went well, pushed a decent time which I'm happy with! Bmw1za,well done on the three second advantage! Haha that's what I get for freewheeling!

But a load of fun nonetheless, good to see so many turn out! The Casino entrance was a shambles, organisers should maybe mention about the heavy parking fee beforehand...

I didn't even know we had to pay for parking, got in without an issue and left through the gates without being charged..

So what times did you all do in the Tsunami :whistling:

I managed a 3:16. Was seeded in A, and should have started in B. Wanted to experience A. Rode above my strength/fitness level up to the climb, and then got dropped by the group I had helped to get there.

Joined a group that was picking up the stragglers, on the way back. Sorry to say I was a wheel sucker all the way back  . It took everything I had to stay with the bunch.

Still not sure that I enjoyed it.

Will have to see what the Sun City race has up its sleeve for us next weekend.

Well done, I started B and got dropped on the climb as well...100kgs is hard to carry(urgghhh).. B bunch start but got support from C bunch collecting straglers too. 3h22 ... I'm happy with that though.

Good work bud !

I got 3:22 as well, but started in C, and managed to get through them all just before the climbs. Picked up a guy with a TUKS jacket and we worked all the way until the turnoff... Then his legs gave out and I was on my ace all the way home. Those last 10 kms hurt.

But please with the time! Was a great race, despite all the rain and wind!

Folks, I got narky this morning over the R40 to get in off the N1. It was only when i read the ticket that said "tollgate" that i remembered. Its a toll fee for the N1 not a charge from Carousel. Its the same R40 you pay coming back the other way at the plaza just beyond Carousel.

I guess they have an arrangement with Bakwena, and I seem to remember paying something a few years back getting to this race.

Thanks to all the cyclists that entered this event.

Even with the rain and wind, we still had a good race. We will pay attention to the complaints and have already put a plan in motion to improve on entries and seeding issues. Hopefully we will get some sponsorship on board to keep the costs down.

If all goes well, we will have a special medal and loads of prizes for the 15th edition of this race to raise funds for Sungardens/Mamelodi Hospice.

Hi Joe Low,

Thanks for the support.

We have tried to get Bakwena on board, but they do not want to sponsor anything. A few years ago the Carousel paid all the toll fees, but their sponsorship has also been cut. We will try to negotiate with Bakwena agin in future.

Hi Anton.

First off, well done on what I'm sure is a nightmarish job of organising a great event (I thoroughly enjoyed it anyway)!

Please note that we're not complaining about having to pay the fee (as mentioned, it was the same rate as the toll both situated parallel to the paying booth), but the fact that we were not informed to be prepared for it. What happens to those who forgot to bring cash or a card, and perhaps only expected the normal tolls payable with a fleet card (which the casino booth rejected)?

All we ask for, (amongst a million other things us unreasonably demanding cyclist demand) is communication so it does not become a problem on race day, where a lot of us are nervous, stressing, and all of it around us is unfamiliar.

Your feedback has been great to see so far (bar the minor bitching session a few posts back, but don't worry, we forgive you), and commend you and anyone involved with this event.

Looking forward to next year! At least I have an idea of what to expect this time around!

Thanks,

AfdElite

Got wet, got dry, got wet again and as I put my bike back in the car, the sun came out in all its glory.

Started in DL on my 29er and basically did a 110km time-trial on my own to finish in 3:23.
