It is a fantastic weekend and one we always looked forward to

Great memories of my son doing his first mtb race at 13 in the 40 Km

Yesterday he came 16th in the 80km and today it's the road race

That was a brilliant result for the 80 k. Well done to him!!

not to sound negative, but is the mtb still a dirt road "race"? non technical except for the small non technical petrus se brand singletrack section?

i just can't see how people can fork out cash for a mediocore ride you can do any time of the year?

again this is just my opinion... :)

I did the mtb race and loved it. Obviously with a couple of thousand people taking part it wont be technical. What it is was a fun day out on the bike, with thousand of other people. Something for everyone regarding distance, you can do the 80km, your wife the 50km, the kids the 15km, without worrying about safety. All very well organised. These events are not for everyone, if you want the trails to yourself and not have to worry about slower riders and lots of traffic, this is not for you.

Thanks.....really proud of the boy

He came 21st in the road race in the sprint 5 secs behind Nolan Hoffman the winner

Knysna is about the combination of the mtb and road races on the same weekend, making it possible for people to ride both. Secondly it is about the different distances making it possible for families to enjoy, with each one riding the distance he is capable of. Thirdly, it is about a whole weekend away for the family that revolves purely around cycling and in a beautiful part of the country where the weather is usually great in midwinter.

The road race isn't the most spectacular, the mtb races aren't the most technical etc. but the whole package takes some beating. I'm so sorry work commitments made it impossible to do it this year.
