@Capricorn....good thing you know now what to do to get back on the bike. Listen to the "doc" and you will be grateful. Just another question, and I apologize if you said this already, but have you had your set-up checked on your bike? If not, PM me for details. You will not believe how the slightest "discomfort" on you bike could be the reason for your injury.

And, everyone else is right, regular massages will help prevent injuries but most of all ensure quicker recovery and more enjoyable riding/running/gyming...overall exercise. :)

Good luck with your recovery.

Yes, something like that - but I'm slightly less flexible than her :whistling:

Good lord - no chance of me bending that far, ever

Sorry to hijack your thread Cap

Maybe someone should start a dedicated Stretching thread?

but tbh honest I prefer the option without holding the arms up which seems to put a bit of pressure on the lower back and also is a bit unstable (risk of tipping over without arm support) which if it happens could strain the muscles being stretched.

Yep my balance sucks

Ummm. Mine might be a bit "alternative" but I have had the exact same issue from helps know what I did. I had it for 4 months in my lower back exactly where the pic shows. After much anguish and trying everything. I tried homeopathic .... The ones called scar tissue remedy I take a cap full everyday and after about 6 weeks it was almost completely gone. I skipped quite a few times aswell but hasn't seemed to hinder progress. Only thing is I've been off it for 2 weeks and started feeling it abit again. R50 a bottle Lasts about 2 weeks. I'm not keen on people cutting me open for all kinds of bull**** as you're never the same afterwards.

thanks for your feedback! I took the low energy option: doing zilch for over 3 months (except packing on the 'bulk'.. urgh). But, one thing did have a massive help: going to a chiro to straighten my pelvis. The lopsided muscle tensions on one side of my pelvils resulted in twisting the pelvis, and the spine. When i started riding again recently, i could feel it during climbing and out of the saddle pedalling. after he adjusted it, omw, the change was remarkable! I could climb again! I still have to stretch to keep the muscles limber, but that singular action had the largest post-recovery impact.

so in short, if anyone's experienced a tight pelvis over an extended period of time, do the pilates, do the stretching, but dont neglect the skeletal aspect and get yourself adjusted. It will probably right itself with the stretching and yoga etc, but the chiropractic assistance will give the whole process a lot of speed.

The Psoas is a wonderful but often negected muscle. I learnt about it after having my abs removed. Pilates and variants of it have helped me immensely where the Psoas is required to do the postural work.

Wonderful muscle? As opposed to those buggers of muscles that spasm in the last 50m of a climb?

Op, hope you get better soon. Had similar, not the same issue, was from bad set up, and poor feet. Strange how its all connected ;p
