When I upgraded my farm gate many years ago before the 29er evolution, the top 3 on the list made the biggest most noticeable difference. I did Frame after Crank, which also made a huge difference.

 

Basically I would wait for good specials at the LBS or CC and by things when I could afford them and they were on a great special.

Yip, I agree.....I dont think there is much weight in that rig of mine that I can shed....

 

Easier to go on a "racing snake" dieet and loose 10 or 15 kg's

There is always something you can buy....and if that holds off a dieeat - go for it....

Yip, if one is not in a rush you can save quiet a bit money wise hey...............

 

Last week I bought R9k worth of crank for R2800 brand new never been fitted.....

 

But having the patience to do this is another story

I only use 3 anyway. Pro racer Geoff Kabush gets away with it and he rides allot harder than anyone here.

 

I bet his are genuine branded bolts though.... :ph34r:

Wheels and tyres have to be number one. Got myself a scott 910 last year with the standard wheels with xt rotor, xt cassette and maxis lust tyres (wanted to put on the lust as I use these as my training wheels now). Then got the AC race wheels with xtr cassette and rotors with Ikons this setup took almost exactly 1kg off the bike.
