O let's summarize how my cycling lob is thinking at the moment, perhaps this will clear the matter up: Sell Roadbike. Sell Mtb. Buy 2013 Cannondale flash 2. Ride the darn thing everywhere!!

even though us mountain bikers "think" we are as tough as nails ... there are summer days with the rain where it is ride-able, but not enjoyable and the course / track is mucked up for a couple of days even after the rain stops. Then that is where the road bike comes in, you can still have a enjoyable ride - even if it's wet

Keep the road bike. The roads you ride seem safe where you live judging by your comment. I enjoy a break from Mtb every once in a while to gas it on the tar. I find it nice sometimes to just get in a rythm of pure cycling without having to concentrate on rocks, trees and snakes.

Honeslty the roads are terrible. But I reckon I might miss the morning rides with the group on weekdays, even if it is on the same boring road every morning

dont get rid of the road bike.

I did and now im on the hunt for another.

Plus the drive train of the mtb wont last like the road bike's when youre doing high mileage

Made the choice to Mtb only a few months back. No regrets. Can still do base on quiet district dirt roads. Our club lost a member on a normal Saturday traing ride just after Burry passed. It was a really random incident and he had no part in it. I was surprised how much my family supported the decision and had not realized their concerns with me on the road.

I was thinking of switching to only MTB'ing until I went on an early morning road ride along the Gordon's Bay-Rooi Els road on Saturday ... The road bike is going nowhere now!
