banna Posted August 6, 2013 Share Jeepers boet, it's sounds like an interesting set. I unfortunately only have one speed: moderate. If I go fast, I get tired, I sink to the bottom and drown. If I go easy, I can't keep myself above the water, I sink to the bottom and drown.... sorry, I'm a mtbiker, and we don't swim that well! But hey, my moderate speed got me through an Ironman! mon-goose Posted August 6, 2013 Share the only way to get rhoguh 160 lengths is to break it up like this, otherwise boring as hell

jonnow Posted August 6, 2013 Share Wow... That's really impressive. Is this seriously all at one go? Have you been for stroke correction or anything of the likes?
mon-goose Posted August 6, 2013 Share if you're asking me then yip, all in one go. actually going to start with a masters swim class tomorrow morning to see if I can improve my technique. Did have a couple of lessons about 6 years ago what I'm doing is nothing compared to the marathon swimmers out there and the guys doing 10km plus swims
jonnow Posted August 6, 2013 Share Have you looked at going to Total Immersion for their stroke correction class? I've been looking into it and I'm not sure if it's the right thing to do.
sluiper Posted August 6, 2013 Share My sets are pretty boring. I only swim them when I miss my normal group session, so they're mostly just to maintain rather than to build. I can definitely recommend swimming with a group and having a coach to do the thinking about sets for you My lazy set is as follows: 1 x 500m warm up10 x 100m leaving at 1:451 x 250m technique (pull buoy)1 x 250m cool down My moderate set as follows: 1 x 500m warm up 3 x 1000m (2 min rest in between)1 x 250m technique (pull buoy)1 x 250m cool down If you're looking for inspiration, go here: http://ruthkazez.com/swimming/50swimworkouts.html. Some great sets available.

Benjamin Posted August 6, 2013 Share That's a nice set, but way too complicated for me to remember. I'd have to take a waterproof sheet to the pool with me, and by the time I've stopped, adjusted my goggles and tried to read what's next, I would have wasted too much time. I'm no great swimmer, but really enjoy it to loosen up after hard rides. I do something like 5 x 200, 2 x 100 (25 easy, 25 hard) then 6 50s ( 25 easy 25 hard) By then I've normally got cramp so I stop.
mon-goose Posted August 7, 2013 Share I've thought about the total immersion and I'm not sure I don't think my stroke is that bad and I've done loads of reading up. I just want one or two sessions with someone to improve and refine my technique. My first session this morning got cancelled so I just did my own easy swim
