Hi all

Does anyone have some designs for bike racks to be fitted onto a Venter trailer.

As a second option I'm thinking of just making wheel strips (U tubing) fitted to Venter for the wheels and then strap the bikes down.

Question though, When I had a quad we use to strap the bikes down on the swing arms, so as not to compress the forks and shocks for extended periods.

In the case of MTB, I'd think the same holds true, or can I lock the front fork and then strap it down, although this makes me more nervous since if the lock releases then there is no compression on the fork and it is more likely to come off.

Second option, just tie straps around fork legs, where it meets the hub,

Best option of course is something rigit that connects to top tube and maybe handle bars.

hehehe, as they say the best solution is sometimes the simplest solutions

Does mean i have to either make a place to fit them or loose allot of space in the trailer to keep them.

Are you against the front wheel being taken off for transport?

ok, and then how we keep it upright, a rigit arm to the top tube?

like the idea f clamping the wheels down using the rim, like the Thule does.

Just need something to keep bikes upright.

What I was thinking was using the Bike Caddy or Geof brand of clamps. Then strap the front wheel to the frames?

On the Geof trailer clamps, the dropouts of the front fork fit into a QR skewer, which would be drilled into the trailer's lid, and holds the bikes upright; the rear wheel fits into a v-shaped mount, which has holes for a strap to hold down the bike.

Also, just checked their site. Seems they have something, which needs a lot less PT…http://www.hanlerproducts.co.za/

New Quick and Easy loading heavy duty bike rack on the market.. EZ Rack, made locally. See: www.ezrack.co.za

I see there are no lights or number plate holder supplied. Can the bikes be locked to the rack and the rack to the car? Lastly, will the rack accomodate a bmx?

I don't recommend the QR solution to holding the bikes up.... Seen some nasty mishaps that way.

I unfortunately have no valuable input other than that friendly warning.

Good luck

Don't know what the EZ Rack costs. But i bought a BOSAL from them direct for 2 800 ronds. IMHO its the best value for money and the most practical, because it folds up and stores under the workbench. Locks onto the tow hitch and both bikes can be locked.

Err didn't know people still used venter trailer parks stuffs...

If you listen to 'The Braai Day' song, the very popular Mr Jack Parrow suggests you 'laai al die hout in jou pas se Venter..' which means that if he suggests it, all the cool kids are doing it, ipso facto, of course people are still using said products....

Honestly, does nobody know what is going on these days! :whistling:
