and we should extract as much enjoyment out of it as we can.

By slagging one of the best motorcycle riders the world has ever seen? That absolutely doesn't make sense.

Where is the "Dear Valentina" letter when he finished 33 seconds behind the winner in Qatar, a year after he inherited a winning Ducati? Behind two Tech 3 Yamahas, behind Hayden, behind Bautista, behind Bradl (in his first year), behind Barbera.

Consistency, people.

I take facmp's point but it is a circus where the riders risk their lives.  Make fun of them all you like but I am very respectful, in awe actually, of their talent and courage, even the guy who finishes last. I think most riders are too.

I also understand how all the sneering cracked Stoner, one of the best riders ever to sit on a MotoGP bike. He seemed to do what Rossi and now Lorenzo have battled with; taming the Ducati.

And even he wasn't able to keep it to the way that he wanted. He tamed a beast that was only really good for the first year or 2 that he rode it. It was toast by the time that Vale had it, and took a change of management before they actually started getting better again. Duc wanted to go in a totally different direction, for whatever reason, and under Stoner's rule it got gradually less and less controllable.

And yes - they all have oodles of talent. But that doesn't mean that people can't satirise their personalities or their quirks, or call them into question if they're acting like a bit of a dick.

AFAIK the ducati he inherited wasn't as winning as the one that Stoner left... And the one that Stoner left was a vastly different machine to the one he started on.

But yeah, it was most likely there, somewhere. Just didn't get asa much publicity. Also, the internet was not as large and far reaching as it is now.

Oh - and it's satirizing his seemingly endless capacity for whinging, and is most likely written by someone who despises him.

But anyway. I hope he manages to get the 'Duc going well. While I don't like him, he's a bloody good rider and his presence in the top 5 would help continue the great racing we've been seeing.

You should meet my wife. She loves Marquez and keeps trying to convince me that Vale is gay and that the his porky mate is in fact his boyfreind.

Thing is, we are still married and its a bit of a standing joke in our house. Why take this **** so seriously?

I'll write you a satirical letter about Valentino if it will make you feel better.

Because when your guy loses, its human nature to sulk.

No I do not.

And this is probably because my criteria of what constitutes "one of the best motorcycle racers the world has ever seen" differs to your criteria. Hence us having different stances on the topic in the first place. Who is to say that your criteria is wrong and mine is right, or that it is less/more accurate. Its opinion and therefore its not absolute and binary.

So it is probably very unlikely that I could convince you otherwise or that you convince me otherwise.

Edit: If I make my list long enough, I am sure he will get on there at some point.

quite simply - he can ride. probably better than most. But he cant race. Not like Marquez and Rossi and Dovi and quite a few others through the ages. As soon as there is aggro he disappears and cries to the press.

I do however think that all the years of him being sponsored by and sucking on Chupa Chups is how he perfected his bj technique and made him one of the greatest cock suckers of all time.

I wanted to add, but I think enough said...lets just all agree Lorenzo is a **** or a ***** and get back to the racing

Maybe just clarify with words what you mean, some people might confuse the "asterisk" with a "star" which he is not
