Where to buy Flat Pedals

Dont wanna sound to stupid but what is decent flat pedals ? I need to know before I buy another set . Grip , bearings , platform size or just the brand ?

 

I need to invest in a good pair of flats as well, but then it's shoes or you're only half way there.

 

Pedals: I heard some good opinions on the Nukeproofs. Neutron & electrons

Those Wellgos look too 'fat'. I would rather buy Nukeproof Electrons (similar price point) or Neutrons, The thinner profile is better as the pedals are less likely to smash into things and your feet are in a better position.

It's all of the above. The grip is important. The neutrons have 10 decent pins which grip like crazy. The platform size is important to me. The Neutrons have a low profile large platform so more ground clearance. The pedals are slightly concave so your foot sits nicely in the pedal.

 

These pedals have sealed bearings which last longer and run more smoothly as dirt and water can't get in.

 

They also look awesome on my bike!

Just by the by, do all you flat pedal pedal riding people use shin guards or just pay the price every few months or so when a situation arises where the pins enevitably catch you properly in the shins?

 

I use flats religiously but I took out all the pins and made their tips nice and smooth/round, minimal loss of grip but much less shin rip. You can only do that with the pedals where the pins screw in from the opposite side, the top loading Allen key head ones you'll be grinding off the part of the pin you need to screw in with.

Now all my bikes roll with the same foot-mats! (there was always that one bike that would be sulking in the corner saying "when will I get my own pedals" hahaha!

 

The Neutron has been the best value for money flat pedal I've used to date. Hence me dropping cash to make sure all my bikes get the same treatment.

 

I've been running Neutrons for about 2yrs now and never had an issue.

 

EDIT: I forgot to answer the OP... all 4 pairs have come from CRC. The price fluctuates, but now is a good time to buy. They're about R250 cheaper than they were a few months back.

The Electrons are lighter and made of a nylon composite material, nice low profile.

 

The Neutrons and Protons are almost identical with alloy 6061 body, better axle, more pins and better design but more expensive but best value for money i rate.
