After the race on your way home, stop at a garage and take a crap. The Gu gel binds your stomach well during the race but what is to follow afterwards is a not pretty. When you eventually offload the immediate area around you will become uninhabitable for a few hours :nuke: .

This tip might even save your marriage.

Also refer to the previous tip with regards to this...

HI guys,

sorry or the delay in announcing the third tip/hint winner, after much deliberation we glad to announce Mr Winters tip

"In shorter distance races such as Sprint or Olympic Distance, break two elastic bands and tie them around the top tube of your bike, then place your energy gels underneath the elastic bands so they are easily reachable during the bike segment. Same idea with your Sunglasses which during the rush of transition can easily get forgotten, dropped or trodden on! Place the arms of the sunglasses underneath the bands to hold them securely, then you can wait until you have got yourself into a comfortable position on the bike segment before putting them on" as the winner!

Mr winter we will be in touch

Make your setup in the transition area noticable with by tying a helium balloon around the stand or keeping it at your station. If you can't get one, look around for other people that might have at their areas and try to set up nearby if possible.

When buying goggles, push them against your face/eyes without putting the straps around your head. They should stick automatically, this will help to ensure a tight seal and good fit to avoid water leaking in to them during the swim. Every head/face is different, so what works for your friend won't necessarily work for you.

During swim training leading up to the event, practice hypoxic breathing during pulling sets.

I.e. a 3 x 100m set can look like this:

100m - 25m breath every 3rd stroke, 50m breath every 5th stroke, 25m breath every 3rd stroke

100m - 25m breath every 5th stroke, 50m breath every 7th stroke, 25m breath every 5th stroke

100m - 25m breath every 7th stroke, 50m breath every 9th stroke, 25m breath every 7th stroke

This will help during the swim leg of the tri to build confidence that if you get kicked in the face or get a wave splashing in to you and you can't breathe, you won't panic because you'll be able to breath on the next stroke.

When laying out your socks, fold/roll them in half so that the top of the sock is by the toes of the sock, it'll be easier to slide your feet in to them and then pull the remainder of the sock up to save some time in transition.

One way to make sure you improve your overall result is move peoples balloons around in transition before the race

Don't be overwhelmed by all the triathlon bling. Nothing beats training. Expensive kit and a 100k bike will not make up for lack of fitness/motivation...

Yes but bling is a very important aspect.

Don't waste time shaving your legs and arms, rather use this time and go for a weekly leg / back massage.

Hairy legs / body parts have certain advantages, some of which are:

1. If u run out of gel / goo sachets on the bike, you can always find some clinging to your body hair somewhere.

2. Serious triathletes who shave will not take your efforts seriously and not get involved in a personal race. Nothing like a personal race to upset the best laid race day plan.

3. Moisture accumulation on body hair coupled with forward motion enhances the overall cooling effect, allowing more blood to be diverted from the skin surface to your working muscles.
