Thanks for the replies so far guys!

To answer some of the questions, firstly, I'm 23, don't drink or smoke, and don't drink coffee, all for religious reasons.

During the day I drink about 1 or 2 liters of water, depending on the day and the opportunity.

Today I tried forcing some scrambled eggs down, and have had two simple sandwiches for lunch. Although it may be a skewed result due to a late night last night (premier league is back!).

The 5 smaller meals definitely won't be possible, so I'm a bit stuck.

Must say that during my cycling which is really my only for of exercise, I don't feel drained or fatigued... Just the usual put of breath from climbs...

Keep the info coming guys! Greatly appreciated!

I've found that my slumps are a slight lack of sugar sometimes... Glass of oros and I'm good to go till supper. Also found that if i'm doing something it isn't as bad, but on the couch just compounds the problem.

Even if you just grab a banana and apple in the morning it will help. Eat the banana on your way to your car and the apple while driving. That's what I did when I had a hectic project. Also, pack yourself a small porsion of muesli with a small yoghurt to eat when you get to the office.

If you eat only one meal a day, make it breakfast.

Check out "circadian rhythms" - what you are experiencing is entirely natural, and happens to most of us in a 24 hour cycle. (Not of the "on the bike" kind! :) )

Your sleep patterns, amount of natural light and diet will all affect it, but most of us have a dip in the early morning and late afternoon naturally.

When we lived on a project in the bush for 5 years we would have our main meal at lunch time then a 10 min power nap.Good to go until late and even play squash after work. Then just a light snack at night

Next morning rock and roll at 6

Very healthy

The power of a nap, or as ze germans call it a "Nickerchen"

"Research shows that we have a strong biological tendency to become tired in the early afternoon. A short 10-20 minute nap in the middle of a working day can increase productivity by over 30% and alertness by 100% as well as improve memory and concentration, according to NASA. Recent research shows that we can also reduce stress and the risk of heart disease by 34%. Sleep deprivation has been shown to make weight loss more difficult as well as cause accidents at work and on the road. Even 5 minutes can be beneficial! However reasearch has also shown that there is an increased risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes with those people who nap than those wo do not. (See Siesta Facts)"
