Ok, so I accidentally pulled the brake lever when the disc was not in place...

Since then the brakes wont open up prperly and clamp onto my disc. The wheel can hardly turn. I re-aligned the callipers manually by pushing them back in place, but every time I push the lever, it shuts again. I had to do a race with these conditions!!!

So now what? I heard I have to bleed the brakes. So I'm organising a Avid/Juicy bleeding kit. My lbs tech told me that maybe the seal is broken too. Can that be? and if so how do I fix/ replace it.

Any tech guru's out there, please help!

I would think that if the seal was broken, oil would be leaking out, so I doubt that is a problem. I would guess you could just open the bleeding hole at the lever and then ever so gently push the pistons back, forcing the oil back into the reservoir. No air would be able to get into the system and you just close the bleeding hole at the lever again.

I would take out the brake pads and using a tire lever push back the pistons and re insert the pads.

This should sort it out. You can't push the pistons all the way in unless you remove the pads first.

Take the pads out, push the pistons back, put the pads back in, pull the lever a few times till the pads touch the rotor, loosen the caliper bolts, spin wheel, pull brake and continue to hold the lever while u tighten the caliper bolts. Once the bolts are tight, release the brake lever. Should now be aligned.

Just be careful when taking out your Avid Juicy pads and clips that the clip does not spring off into the distance never to be seen again

Get a friend who knows how to show you then its a piece of old takkie

Or instead of taking them out, push a flat head screw driver between the back of the pad and the piston (so the 2 pads are touching) and force the piston back. Repeat process on the other side. This way you can in fact push them all the way back without removing them.

Then follow MTBaaisikilist's advice...

Good luck
