That would be nice, but I live in Durban. I am only driving to Jhb on Friday 15 November. Looking to do some riding on Saturday 16 November. Nothing too hectic. 30-40km at easy pace.

oops, my bad.

You should then head out to the Cradle for a spin. Northcliff cycles, Club100, Cyclelab, and thousands of others will be out there taking in the fresh quiet morning air. Best 30-40km you could hope for in JHB. If you dont want to join a club, then you will most likely be able to find like minded souls starting out from Toadburry Hall, Valverde Country Estate, Avianto, or at the Rhino Park itself.

Thanks. I will try make contact with someone riding in one of the groups mentioned above (hopefully via the hub) and meet them on the day. I do not want to rock up hoping to meet people, then get hopelessly lost riding around Jhb by myself and get stabbed and shot at.

Where are you gonna stay while you in JNB?

I think you are exaggerating - you dont have to get lost to be stabbed or shot...

There have been a few threads last week that have me pooping bricks. Luckily the crooks in Durban havent figured out the value of the bikes been ridden around.

Quite right, those rhinos carry some serious fire power. not to mention the white tiger 2m from the road...

My friend is a banker...he doesnt ride bikes. Just playing, he doesnt ride bikes, but not because he is a banker.

If you aren't gonna do the twitter ride, I will get permission form Vetseun and ask his permission to go for a 20 k spin with his goose.

I will be doing a 30km or so slow ride, from either the rhino park or sterkfontein caves. Not much climbing, just to warm the legs. You are welcome to join me for an early start.

 Thanks. I will try remember this and find the place closer to the race date. What is an early start? My usual riding time is 5:30am

Ok The GPX file works - now I just need the 3:00 version :)

Thanks for the help Gerald.

edit - just seen that its the same file though it shows 3:08 (total time on perhaps?)

Yes, 3:00:05 was the ride time and the other 8 minutes was stationary time - puncture related.

It doesn't matter if I download from Garmin TC, Endomondo and Strava it still shows the 3:00:05 as ride time, yet 3:08:41 as the total time.

I have managed to find the lines in the XML file that adds up to the 8:36 of stationary time, so I will edit the file and repost with the time showing 3:00:05 like the ride time shows.

Great - thanks for taking the trouble

I stay in the fourways area. I can help you with directions if needed.

I would look at going out at around 6am.
