What is isoprol alcohol?

In all the brake bleeding and fork servicing manuals the yanks refer to "isoprol alcohol" to wipe everything clean? What is it called here and where can you get it. It probably nullifies the damage the DOT4 fluid can do to paintwork etc?

Also, is suspension fluid harmful to paint etc. like DOT 4 brake fluid?

Buy from almost any pharmacy, usually kept behind the desk. Standard is 250 or 500ml. Isopropyl alcohol.

I bought a 500ml bottle from the local chemist. Tastes like s&*t but it works like witblits. Expensive, so I squirt it on using a needle and syringe.

It is something none of the pharmacies that I have been to stock.

But what chippo said, the stuff that alcohol swabs are soaked in, except in a bottle with no swabs ;)

I've seen in some of the vids, they use it in a spray bottle. Also a good idea to get good coverage with little waste

Methylated spirits should be fine as it is denatured ethanol. Acetone is a no no.

It's to swab your skin with before you take a shot of something. I'm not completely sure about the performance benefits of injecting brakefluid. Rather wait for the outcome of clinical trials at the tour de france.

Hahaha..... Mtbaaisikilist... Is that you??? If I remember correctly you could offer us some valuable advice? Good on you mate for keeping your chin up..

It's called rubbing alcohol at the pharmacy. It is good for cleaning most things. They also use it in CD cleaners, video head cleaners and screen cleaners. It is good for cleaning grease off rims and disc rotors.
