Links MTB Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 I will also be joining you guys in climbing mount Backsberg on Saturday. Last year's race was only my 3rd race and I was totally out of my depth - the mud didn't help either! Looking forward to getting a bit of revenge this year.

Hopefully the gravel is compact on that climb, if its gonna be "loose-sand-stone-spinning-out" kinda gravel....eish, then I see a cramp fest at the 20km mark!

Don't want to hijack the Backsberg thread but I didn't think the road was that corrugated last year. Up until 100km I was averaging above 25km/h which I don't think would be possible for a slightly better than average mtb'er on a badly corrugated road. For me it was much nicer than the 100 miler which I am in no hurry to do again (would rather drive through to the Hexriver race on that day) But yes it's 99% district road so if thats not your thing stay away, nice to have choices, we also have Staalwater that same weekend so 3 nice races to choose from.
Johny Bravo Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Backsberg for me aswell. I love the wine too much to miss it. Only doing the 30km, saving my legs for the first big road race of the season Sunday in Worcester.
