Serious Mate, was trying to show off. Made my name gat

I did this on Tuesday at Hurlingham :blush:

Nailed the berms then ate s**t on the first little jump leading to the drops. Fortunately there were two guys there watching. Stuffed what was left of my pride into my CamelPak, straightened my bars and hightailed it out of there. I blame it on the fact that I was going to ride trials and I was already feeling so ashamed of myself :whistling:

Also, the jump at Jan Smuts is much easier to Step-up than to step down. :thumbup:

I know, I know :blush:

It's more like a park where one can ride a bike

It's like that race on the wildcoast called the Rampage. And the race posters where the pic is of a dude on a DH bike but the race is 90km of district road. False advertising.

Maybe I should start referring to myself as 12inchknobmillionaire

When you're riding up-stream (towards Fratellies) you have to jump from a lower level UP to a landing (Step-Up) and when you ride down stream you jump from the higher level down to a lower level (Step-down).

What makes the step down a bit more difficult is that the ground slopes down hill & there is no lip to help you get the bike into the air so you have to time your hop correctly, otherwise it could be an awkward landing, but a successful step-up or down will save you at least 10secs :thumbup:

A step up is a jump where the landing is higher than the takeoff. a step down is a jump where the landing is lower than the takeoff. a stepdown is typically easier to do cos you just ride off. Provided you are going fast enough.

Ta and yes, that going down is pretty hard cause its blind and you have like a 3m launch and no lip to launch, so you have to be able to do a proper bunny....

Low launch -> high landing = step-up

This reminds me of this same xmas tree hitting the rocks next to the scout hall at that drop off. He was on his little Da Bomb play bike and the other guys trying with him where on DH rigs :eek:

The craziest thing I've ever seen him do was ride the downhill at Cascades on his Cotic hardtail with just a single back brake. He absolutely melted the rotor.

THe best skill show I've ever seen him put on, however, was when Peach broke his arm on his first ride back (since his other broken arm) and Christmas Tree was upset about how much more attention the invalid was getting.

Trying to follow him down the enduro trails in Karkloof, I ate so much dust - in more ways than one.

:D
