Conditions of participation

PERSKINDOL SWISS EPIC is mountain biking on almost endless trails full of flow, challenging uphills, technically demanding downhills in a high alpine environment. To endure and enjoy the SWISS EPIC, riders require a high level of fitness and stamina as well as advanced mountain biking skills. There are average climbs of 3’000 m per day and a maximum climb of 1’500m in one stretch on single trails and gravel roads. A SWISS EPIC rider has to know how to set the pace so that their legs don’t tire too early. The level of difficulty is usually between S1 and S2, in some cases S0. For detailed information visit www.singletrail-skala.de.

The main challenge is not the technically difficult single trails but in keeping a fresh mind for long and playful downhill trails after a long day on the bike. Not only the uphill, but the downhills also are demanding and require a high level of honest self-evaluation and the ability to concentrate. The landscape of Wallis is rich and varied and mostly very steep. SWISS EPIC riders must not be afraid of heights. Regularly the trails run along steep slopes where a fall would be fatal. Some gorges, ravines and rivers are crossed by high and narrow suspension bridges sometimes with a see through grid floor. Last but not least teamwork skills are essential.

Heard there are still some entries left +/- 100 as of yesterday

Have you checked the cost of it? If I am here I would love to ride. But a Cape Epic and a Swiss Epic in one year might ruin me financially

Hey Camelman

I was in Basel a few weeks back. Are you there permanently?

I'd love to do this race at some stage....one more for the bucket list

Jip I am here permanent, me and the missus are taking 3 months off from Christmas till the Epic. Training, drinking holidaying and fighting during the Epic.LOL

Back in early April. Not sure if she will be up for another big one in one year, but I will definitely.

Just checked

Its 4340CHF. I want a lot of fondue and raclette for that. It's even more than the Cape Epic.

Yep the cheaper option (camper wagon) is already sold out

Its a lot of money, even for the local euro people and I suspect a large proportion will be sponsored riders.

The fact its not sold out yet might also be an indication that its a bit expensive

Best you apply for an entry, I have a feeling in the new year (after xmas bonuses are dished out) entries might go quickly
