Hi guys

Restless leggs, insomnia, low libido, regular nose bleeding and asthma are all related to over stressed cells, hormone imbalances and insufficient energy or broken metabolism. Those that are really interested in helping their own health should take the time and read the articles by Ray Peat PhD. I promise you, you will learn a lot. I will try to find where he specifically mentioned restless legs and post it here, but his articles have a ton of very valuable physiological facts that he gives for free and is the result of 50 years of research and practice.

Just one warning though, you have to have time to read properly as his writing style is very scientifically minded sometimes and is probably not for everyone to understand.

He would lose me in the first paragraph. How about you help us out with a very brief summary?

+ people that have asthma should not take disprin so it wont be a remedy for all.

A lot of people are probably allergic to the fillers and other compounds used in products like "Disprin" Try getting a generic aspirin (actice ingredient) (walk past the show displays and to the pharmacy in the back and ask for it, also 90% cheaper) then dissolve in warm water and let it settle. Drink only the water and not the settlement. See how it goes then.

Aspirin is very beneficial for health. It is a very good anti inflammatory with many other benefits too. The pharmaceutical industry won't tell you this.

Energy depleted state and slow energy regeneration.

Your body is in fatigued state and resting metabolism is dialed down by down regulating your thyroid. This causes many problems. One of which is increased inflammation and increased stress hormones, of which serotonin is one. Serotonin is known to cause insomnia and restless sleep and restless leggs. Estrogen is another stress hormone that is increased significantly in stressed or overtrained men and woman. Estrogen combine with PUFA's in your system to cause or contribute to, and accelerate many of today's degenerative diseases.

You could also have a sodium (salt) deficiency wich leads to an excess aldosterone hormone which try to prevent further sodium loss, but at the expense of magnesium and calsium loss. So in short a mineral deficiency as well.

My advice (imho and for whats it worth) , rest, rest more and eat plenty of sugar, calsium, milk, salt and protein, and get your thyroid checked out.

Insomnia, worry and "restless legs" at bedtime are problems for many old people, and I think they are variations of the basic energy-depletion problem.

In the hormonal environment dominated by estrogen, mild stresses such as exertion, or even restless sleep, allow toxins (and sometimes bacteria) from the intestine to enter the bloodstream, triggering a complex chain of events that create a systemic inflammatory state. Although these processes have been observed in many simple experiments, their implications are almost always neglected or denied or explained away. Incorporation of certain polyunsaturated fats into the tissues increases the leakiness of blood vessels, and amplifies the reactions to stresses and inflammatory stimuli.

Antioxidants, thyroid hormone, progesterone, and antiinflammatory agents, including glycine or gelatin, niacin, and saturated fats, can prevent, and in many cases reverse, these degenerative inflammatory processes.

Most of the facts are known, but they have seldom been put together in meaningful patterns, which would let us see that a few simple principles govern a great range of disturbing phenomena: seizures, shock, hypertension, fibrillation, cramps, restless legs, coma, insomnia, obsessive thinking, migraine, hyperactivity, even cell death and aging.”

Hi All

Restless legs torment me most nights... Slow mag offers some reprieve, but it has side effects for me such as tingling fingers the next day.

Does anyone have some advice for my sleep depriven tormented soul???

Please any advise would be appreciated!

I have it too. You need to get some Pexola. It is the only meds that work. I use it now only from time to time as it is under control.

Need to get it on prescription though...

Works like a charm.

I think it's generally a bad idea to use pharmaceutical drugs to treat symptoms that have causes that can be treated better with natural remedies like good nutrition and better life style decisions. Most drugs have side effects and can cause other problems.

Pexola is an anti-Parkinson's drug. It has nausea, vomiting, sleepiness , dizziness and fatigue as common side effects ...

I have been using it for about four years and no side effects. Also a friend of mine is using it with no side effects.

Doctors cannot explain where it comes from, it has nothing to do with nutrition...

I guess all the people that get side effects must be imagining it then ? I've also heard that argument from many a drug addict and marijuana user.

I beg to differ, and the science suggest otherwise, but let's leave it at that.

Someone mentioned tingling in the fingers. I get this from my meds, very prominent side effect called peripheral neuropathy. I am on a pill called Neurobion essentially Vit B6. Met a girl walking funny on the Spruit and turned back to see she was OK, turned out she had PN from being vegetarian and some dietary defficiency and was on VitB6 supplements and learning to walk. I had it that bad 4 years ago but am much better now apart from my new treatment which is in early days.

My 2c worth, not RLS, but perhaps it helps.

Personally I think it is caused by stress, anxiety. And then also Adrenal Fatigue (google it, most of us have it without knowing and really not easy to get rid of)

I recommend drinking herbs to help calm your nerves such as Ashwaganda or Valerian(non-pharmaceuticals).

Solal also brings out a herbal remedy called Burn-out, it is not cheap but I have been taking it(although I don't have RLS, I do have adrenal fatigue) and i think it works wonders.

Edit: I stay away from Pharmaceuticals as much as I possibly can!

Do a little more research before taking this kind of treatment.......MOST NB: see your doctor first. Dispirin (active ingredient: acetylsalicylate) has some MAJOR side effects if taken at the wrong doses (gastro-intestinal bleeding is just one and not something to be sniffed at!) Edited by capediver

I'm NOT joking. Simple easy solution.

Peter Pan...
