I've been looking into conveting my hartail to 1x10 so this is very informative. Was toying with the idea of

going 30 tooth up front, what are you running ? I was thinking that with an 11-36 cassette that should be adequate for the trails down here.

Let's not hijack Flowta's thread...

There are threads about the 1x10 option- and if you want you can pm me and we can discuss the options...

What a winner!!

This is so simple and doable, 1x10 here I come.

Shipping from eBay is a bit pricey but not too bad all in I suppose.

How do you bolt the re assembled cassette together?

How easily does it change gears from the 36t to 41t?

$25 dollar shipping but he will combine shipping on orders.

At the moment they sitting loose on the cassette, will be threading the pins and drilling and tapping the big sprocket soon as I can.

With a bit of fine tuning it shifts well. Haven't tried in a real world sense but on the work stand it's fine.

That 41 sprocket looks like it could weight quite a bit. looks very similar to a motorbike sprocket actually.

The re assembling of the cassette by your drill and tap method will be crucial. get that wrong and it will be a recipe for disaster. Are you sure there is enough material on the bigger sprocket to adequately fasten down the rest of the sprockets? Where would you find the torque specifications for this application?

I'm only being critical because you've come onto a great idea that I might try myself but obviously wary as it's untested until now, looks neat but the proof is in the pudding as they say.

I actually already mentioned the General Lee conversion in my first post.

Great product, a lot neater and lighter but 3x the price.

Great idea thanks. gonna do this on my reign for sure. Gonna go the General Lee route.

Is stainless steel and weighs 150g

Now that is GOOD news.

The reason I was shying away from some of these conversions was the use of aluminium in rear sprockets. They just won't last IMO.

Is it really Necessary to bolt the big sprocket to the rest of the cassette? The Lock Nut, torqued to 40nM should hold it in place, and the Free Body would keep it aligned in the Drive Direction.
