I ordered a Rockshox Sid XX Xloc 26" 100mm Solo Air Fork from Buycycle but received the Dual Air version. I've done some research and it's a bit inconclusive which is better. (yes, before I get tarred and feathered, I did check out the Hub thread). I ride mostly the CT single track trails like Contermans, Tokai, Jonkershoek, etc.

What should I do, keep the Dual Air or send it back for a replacement? I haven't contacted Buycycle yet.

The dual air is more adjustable, but it can be a little trickier to set up correctly. I think it depends on whether you like to have as much control as possible over the set up.

thanks. I gathered that from my friends at Google. I'm just not sure if it's in any way an inferior product to the Solo Air. If it is as good, I am happy to keep it.

I suggest you drop me a PM with your email and I will reply with a guide on dual air setup and what happens when you fiddle.

Honestly, dual air will take less than 5 minutes to set up correctly. There are numerous places on the web that explain how to set it up correctly. In a nutshell, I think it was to set up the positive chamber to get a good sag (20% or so), then set negative chamber 5 psi less than that, as a rule of thumb. And once properly set up, dual air allows you to fine tune it in future if you so choose. I have a solo air Reba, and I don't really feel the need for dual, but I can understand why it might help fine tuning.

It is in no way inferior, the solo air is the result of people not knowing how to set up the positive and negative air chambers separately. Dual air for the win if you find your butter zone.

Setup on the dual air really differs from person to person, I set my neg 15psi higher than the positive for a plusher ride. And I don't lose any travel or gain additional sag as a result of the higher negative chamber.

the dual air is the better instrument, however im sure they charged you solo air price, which is a newer model and thus more expensive..

they charged me the Solo advertised price. They don't have the Dual on the website.

I just got the older duel air fork, took me a few rides to find out what I liked, but i love the shock now! Small adjustments and I can set up for anything. Feels like i have my MX bike's suspension clickers on

Buycycle don't hold stock themselves - they send the shipping requests off to the suppliers and get them to ship the stuff, so it was probably a Cape Cycle Systems error when packaging the order.

Don't think buycycle even have a dual air on their site.

But personally - I'd pay the new price for a Dual Air, cos it's just that much better than the Solo...

thanks. I have now sent them a mail, but I reckon I am happy to keep the Dual.

Yeah. Just say that you're happy to keep the fork but seeing as it is an older model, it should be discounted and you're looking for either a portion of your money back, or some credit to use against future purchases...

waiting for their reply, but yes, was going to ask for some sort of voucher against a future purchase.
