I like Rodriguez and sure he is upset but he was beaten fair and square. Needs to get over it. How much work did Rodriguez do in the first 250km? Anyway this is not a competition to see who works the hardest and sucks wheel the least. Some Italian would likely have won that.

Not so good Team GB. Thought you guys knew about rain.

Most important thing is no Brit with the world champ hoops on his jersey and especially no Wiggins

Some say that the energy that J Rod used to 'convey his message' to Costa, was exactly the energy needed to gain that final metre on Costa

I don't agree.

As a certain BBC journalist once told Julius... "That's rubbish man." to which Juju replied:"Raaaabish is whaaat you hav in your pents!"

Hehehe! (Sorry Dale no reference to you intended) but Seriously. No way can any amount of choice words equate to leg strength.

All's fair in love and war! I think he was a deserving winner. Thats tactics for you. In the final selection he gambled and it paid off. He was against two Spaniards and a possessed Nibali, and had the legs to be there at the end of the epic race, so I say congratulations Mr Costa!

I just hope the curse of the rainbow jersey does not spoil 2014 for him.

J-Rod and Valverde did an incredible ride, just a pity Nibali had to come away with scars and no medal. Nibali has such an aggresive racing style, and would have been a national hero had he won.

I was openly hoping Cancellara would win, but along with Sagan, Gilbert and the other big favourites they got a lesson in riding they would rather forget!

I think we were the big winners being able to watch an epic race live, and it sure was an entertaining race!

Not much rain in Tenerife

Valverde has been on the podium 5 times but never won.

Costa off to Merida next year.

Feel for Purito but having team mate didn't help him
