A friend has gone down in a skateboard fall about 3 weeks ago now, he was critical, in coma, still has not got movement on the RHS of his body.

Doc recons that anything over 18km/h requires a helmet.

Don't %$^# around boys and girls, wear the damned thing as it is not only you that is effected by taking a serious tumble, but also those around you.

Pity I can only Like you comment once.

But, seeing as so many experts here reckon a helmet is optional, don't expect me to take pity if something happens to you while being irresponsible, in fact, I will tell you "told you so".

Dude, read the argument I've put forward. I'm opposed to people yelling at a cyclist under all circumstances if they aren't wearing a helmet. If you're going to ride fast, ride downhill, ride skatepark and you don't wear a helmet then you're likely going to get hurt. But if I'm going to amble around Delta on a Sunday or on a slow ride to work then that's my discretion. My point is, stop getting so worked up at people that aren't wearing a helmet.

Slow day at the office too - here is something interesting I saw.

HUB THIS (I know this is a subject close to Eldrons heart)

'An Italian athlete is to face a disciplinary hearing on Wednesday for allegedly using a fake penis to try to beat a doping test.

'Devis Licciardi, a long distance runner, allegedly filled the artificial organ with uncontaminated urine which he then gave as a sample during a post-race test for banned substances.

'Mr Licciardi had just competed in a 10km road race at Molfetta in the southern region of Puglia at the weekend when he was asked to take the urine test.

'The 27-year-old athlete, a member of the Italian air force team, was allegedly caught trying to siphon off "clean" urine from the fake penis, which was concealed in his underpants. As he prepared to take the test, he had reportedly told a doctor: "I'd like to be alone."

'But the doctor refused the request, saying that he needed to be in attendance, in accordance with anti-doping laws.

'If found guilty of the offence, he risks being disqualified for two years.

'Fake penises are readily available on the internet and even come in different colours to match users' skin colour, including white, black and Latino.

'One website offers "life-like" prosthetic penises complete with packets of dehydrated, uncontaminated urine, which can be turned liquid with chemical heat packs.

'A satisfied customer wrote on one website: "I passed my drug test with ease and the person giving the test watched me pee. It is worth every penny."'

Dude, why not? if we can do it here surely out on the trails our mouths should also be as huge as here?

OK, so I thought about the whole freedom of choice thing.

Legally speaking, if we were to crash into each other and you sustained a head injury because you didn't wear a helmet, would I be liable for any damages as I was involved in the accident that caused YOUR damage to your head?

I don't know, that is why i asked.

And dude, I don't need to scratch for reasons to justify why a helmet is actually a good idea to wear when riding your bicycle.
