Specialized SW - bearings, pivots and BB

question to all SW specialists out there

I need to replace the bearings for the BB and pivot on my SW (after only having the bike for 2 months...sounds a little ridiculous)

can anyone tell me if I can just use the normal R10 bearings from The Bearing man or do I have to pay R120 for one bearing because it is specialized?

2 months from new, or did you buy it second hand? If it's new and you're not riding 1 000km a day, take it back. If second hand, these things happen.

Take the bearings out and measure them. Check if Bearing Man has the sizes you're looking for. If they do, there will be a R 10 option and a R 60 option. Take the R 60 option. The cheap ones are rubbish. As in proper rubbish.

If they're odd sizes you'll need to order from Spez or Enduro.

brand spanking new bike

just think its ridiculous to charge R120 per bearing and i need to get 8 for the pivot alone...

yip

Can't comment on the linkages, but I got terrible mileage out of GXP BB's...600km was the avg. Since then all my frames are now BSA specific and using Shimano XT BB I am sitting on 4250km and still going strong...not that this info is going to help you.

I did manage to get slightly better km's out of the gxp BB when I nursed it. Clean it out every second ride and re-grease. Try not to jump your bike that will put extra stress on the bearings in the BB, no degreaser near the bike ever. After a wash, make sure to leave the bike upside down in the sun so that most of the water can drain out of the shell, torque the crank to exact manufacturer specifications.

Good luck...I just eventually gave up

My sworks frame uses presfit 30 bb? So do you use converters for the GXP bb? My bike is a couple of months old and I have no issues with pivots....yet.

I rode a 40k bike before the SW and never changed the BB in 5 years
